I'm looking on the Almanac and would like to travel the road leaving Mulege south west towards the San Miguel Mission and then heading on to La
Ballena intersecting with the North Road above San Juanico.
Has anyone traveled this road?

We did the San Juanico - La Ballena - Mulege road a couple of weeks ago -- slow going and took a long day. Rough going and 4x4 --

I went that way in April on a motorcycle and the roads in there took a beating from the hurricane. Before the storms almost any vehicle could have
made it through, but now it is really rocky and slow going. If they haven't graded the roads it will take you a long time to get to the San Juanico
road, so leave Mulege early in the morning and plan on driving after the sun goes down. I would recommend that you take a 4 wheel drive vehicle to be
safe.

Forgot to mention that I will be traveling in my slightly lifted Syncro Vanagon with great shape BFG All Terrains. I'm experienced driving off road as
well
Sounds like the road is rough but passable.
Any notable features on the drive?

It's a pretty scenic drive with lots of different terrain. I was doing my favorite pastime, riding dirtbikes in Baja, so you better believe that I
enjoyed it.

San Miguel was a 'visita' (visiting station or satellite mission village of the main mission) of Guadalupe mission. There is a grave yard, but unsure
the condition of any walls remaining of the church or other Jesuit period structures. Ed Vernon (Las Misiones Antiguas) photographed the cemetery at
San Miguel some 10 years ago and there were some old walls there.

I have ridden this route a half dozen times in past four years on a dirtbike and absolutely love it. Locals drive it all the time in new or beater
2-wheel drive vehicles...
I have only ever seen one vehicle broken down...front wheel swing arm broke and tire /wheel was AFU...
Take your time, water, and sense of adventure....
