Hotel Hacienda or Hotel Santa Fe in Loreto?

Has anyone stayed at these places and which is your preference? Both are on Salvatierra.

HAve stayed at Holel Hacienda a few times and was very happy. It been a couple of years but I still think Ana in the manager.

Lee- best about either is that they are right next door to Domingo's Place, which I never miss when passing through. Hacienda Suites is a very nice courtyard hotel with a big pool, and a small restaurant. It is very modern and reminds me of a US hotel property. Haven't stayed at Santa Fe. They just opened this year. Gonna be down in a couple of weeks and was considering giving it a try. Be aware that Santa Fe is owned by the Villa Group which is building a huge time share project outside of town. Word has it that they had promotional rates and it just might be less expensive than Hacienda. A few years ago, before the economy soured and tourism tanked, Hacienda was charging $90 + for a room. I'm guessing, especially with the competition next door, the rates are down.

Knock your socks off!

I've stayed at both, both are very nice. Haven't stayed at the Hacienda for a couple of years but enjoyed their pool and bar when I did. It was pricey, around $90 as I recall. Santa Fe was running a special for $59 and I stayed there twice. Nice and new, built around a court yard pool. They have a little store and restaurant but don't know about a bar. The were pet friendly but no more. I don't know if they are still offering rooms at a discount any more. It is a time share thing so expect to be asked if you will tolerate a presentation.....I haven't. The best thing about both of them as howodd said is that they are both right next door to Domingo's.

I usually stop in Loreto on my way South. I'm only staying the night and having dinner at Domingo's so fancy or a pool aren't necessary. I was turned away at Santa Fe a week ago because I had the little mutt with me. I tried Hotel Angra, nice place, nice people, good rates, pet friendly, secure parking, no pool. I'll be back.....dt

Not sure about the Hacienda's pet policy. But, if having a pet is a priority, so be it. We checked Angra out last year. Didn't stay. Just looked at the rooms. It's OK. But it is not nearly as nice as Hacienda. Angra is definitely more Mexican in its presentation. If pets are not in the equation, and Angra and Hacienda are around the same price, for me, it's a no-brainer.

I would agree with your comparison and conclusion. Angra was about $60 as I recall, not sure what the current rates are at Hacienda. I seem to recall that Hacienda is not pet friendly but not sure. Anybody else know? update: just checked their web site, no pets. Isn't the internet a wonderful thing?

Angra has coffee and continental breakfast included.

We stayed at Hacienda a night in April. Nice, pleasant hosts. Steak house next door (is that Domingo's?) was very good. In the morning, while having a cup o joe I noticed the children in the room next to ours had a small dog.

hacienda says no dogs, but they don't care...many occasions there with a mutt in tow and no problem....be ready for the "time share blitz" when you walk through the front doors of the santa fe, tho.

Yep. that's Domingo's. Especially pleasant when the back patio is open. Inside, closed up with the A/C on, figure your clothes are going to reek of mesquite when you leave. But, by and large, a great restaurant.

Hola, myself and friends have stayed at hotel angra many times and it's newer and family owned and operated and very hands on, has big rooms, wifi in room, cable tv, and has a large secured parking area. no pool but they are definitely less expensive than hacienda and the rooms don't feel as cramped as hacienda and they are pet friendly. room rates are much less than hacienda around the $ 60.00 range.

Angra has coffee and continental breakfast included.

it's about a two or three block walk to dominingo's ( the old el nido ).

BIEN SALUD, DA RAT

I'd vote Hacienda.

Hacienda seems smaller, more "user/pet" friendly and very open. Santa Fe feels too compact/tight to me.

I for sure would do my laundry there (...at the Santa Fe)...Wow!
