or... Just go to Ortegas in San Diego. Same Lobster, 2 hours, half the price.

the traditional famous specialty of the familia ortega; authentic puerto nuevo style whole grilled lobster > 28.95"

Good call Woooosh.... and the same wonderful tortilla soup too. This is the same Ortega brothers from Puerto Nuevo. I know, as I am a friend of the family. Great food and wonderful atmosphere here...;D.. Try it you'll like it..;D:yes:

good tip for when i am back there, thx! i had no idea there was an Ortegas on USA side.
driving south of TJ for anything is not in my program anymore...too bad, i used to like Puerto Nuevo and all but coming back is too much of a hassle.

... and no parking meters. I'll bet Mexico would like them to close the one in San Diego- kinda sets a bad example for tourism attraction, doesn't it?

Wilderone,
Any idea if any locals are promoting the tour? Website looks like it's a back-office tour consolidator. Also will be curious if it succeeds or no.

Woooosh and KasheyDog,
Thanks for the Ortega's idea. Will head there on my next trip north. Lots for me to learn about San Diego.

The info was a banner on the Signonsandiego.com site. I opened it and read the info and passed it along. I don't know who they are. Sounds like an all-day thing - might be fun.
Yeah - Ortega's San Diego looks good, kind of expensive though.
Here's a cat-out-of-the-bag: the fish tacos at Cotija taco shop on Voltaire in the little mall with the Stumps market. $1.29, fresh, awesome.

when?

BajaBlanca - 9-29-2010 at 08:14 PM

Wilderone - I can't tell you how many times my kids ate there .... I myself like Nico's on Newport ....
we have eaten there for sooooooo many years.

skipowell - 9-29-2010 at 09:15 PM

I live in San Diego, eat in Hillcrest regularly and did not know that there was an Ortega's. How embarrassing.

I think I will have to get over there right away and check it out.
Thanks for sharing !

Nomads North of the Boarder works for me during the week! But South of the border on the weekends!

Thank's for the link, Wooosh. Those pomagrenite (sp) margaritas sure are enticing.
