What he said. Ensenada has been reduced to two ships per week (both named "Paradise"). Where will they find one to stop at Rosarito?
|
The vast majority of the ships making port at Ensenada over the past several decades have been those 3-4 night cruises which are more of a cover for a
long weekend of drinking and gambling. The traditional Mexican Riviera cruises eek out a 7 day itinerary by hauling non-stop between either San Diego
or LA and Cabo. What's left are the Hawaii cruises from the West Coast. Due to US maritime law, foreign flagged ships cannot transport passengers
embarking from the US and disembarking in the US without making a foreign port call. Before the drug violence, a number of lines used Ensenada as a
port of embarkation, busing passengers down from San Diego. Instead, they now embark in LA or San Diego and make a brief call on Ensenada, thereby
meeting their requirement. |
