Need Nomad Help

bajaguy - 9-19-2010 at 06:49 PM

OK, not a life or death situation, but more important.

My granddaughters have developed a taste, and now a craving for Nestles Bocaditos......a chocolate covered strawberry-bran snack.

They were available in Ensenada at Wal-Mart, Commercial Mexicana and Soriana....however, I cannot find them anymore at any of the above stores or any of the many convienence stores........

Usually found in individual packages (80 pesos) at the checkout counter displays, but have bought by the case (10 packages) by the granola/breakfast bar section.

If you should happen to spot the chocolate covered ones (not the yogurt), please let me know where!!!!

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Really????
Is this a nutrition joke??

longlegsinlapaz - 9-19-2010 at 06:53 PM

If I spot them, since I'm so far south, would you like me to eat several bags in your granddaughter's honor?:saint:

bajaguy - 9-19-2010 at 06:57 PM

This is no joke.....the 5 year old means business.

Legs, if you find them, I'll figure a way to get them to Ensenada

longlegsinlapaz - 9-19-2010 at 07:04 PM

Well, far be it for me to go up against a 5-year-old who means business!:no: Guess I'll have to kick into Personal Shopper mode!:smug:

Follow up

bajaguy - 9-19-2010 at 07:07 PM

I'll take 4 or 5 cases if you can get them, or as many singles as you can get (40 or 50)..........

Have you tried on line?

longlegsinlapaz - 9-19-2010 at 07:19 PM

Lemme see what I can find.....but you gotta ask the 5-year-old what's it's worth to her! I know it's worth a bundle to grandpa to stop the badgering, but what's it worth to the little badgerer? ;)

bajaguy - 9-19-2010 at 07:19 PM

Fez........I found a description on the Nestles (Mexico) web site, but no order info.

I checked with various places here in the states and all I get is a blank stare

BillP - 9-19-2010 at 07:55 PM

Have you checked NOB?

I'll be hitting my local Vallarrta Market this week and will check there, they seem to have everything, awesome store.

bajaguy - 9-19-2010 at 08:11 PM

Checked King markets, a hispanic foods chain here in Nevada and Jungle Jims (like a Trader Joes on steroids) in Ohio.........nada

bajalou - 9-19-2010 at 09:21 PM

I also have a Nestle breakfast cereal that I like. It's available a lot of places in Mexico, but I haven't found it - or any other Nestle cereal - in any store in the USA.

It appears that Nestle is not marketed in the USA.

Yes it is. It's about the only thing I miss from my year (1999) as an adult living in L.A. ;D

Did you ask why they are no ;onger available??

Howard - 9-20-2010 at 06:09 AM

I own a food distribution company in Southern California. We have an account with Nestles and will put my people on this immediately!

I realize the urgency in this matter as your granddaughter might be going through sugar withdrawals as we speak. In the meantime, just give her some Frosted Flaked with sugar on top to hold her over.

bajaguy - 9-20-2010 at 06:21 AM

Howard...........Thank you very much.....!!!!

shari - 9-20-2010 at 07:15 AM

Nomad rally to the task once again...
Howard...can you please stick a few bags of those in your MH for when you head our way ....for my new grandson...will trade Nestles crack for camping!

wilderone - 9-20-2010 at 08:37 AM

I will find this for you my friend. I am going to Monterrey on Thursday and will search every store there for this delicious breakfast food treat! (if I make it back without any bullet holes)

Howard - 9-20-2010 at 05:52 PM

1st day of looking: Strike 1

longlegsinlapaz - 9-20-2010 at 06:02 PM

As promised, I'll check La Paz manana....but if I were you, I'd be putting some serious thought to possibly turning that little angel onto something that never falls off the radar scope....like homemade chocolate chip cookies!:bounce::bounce:

Are you offering the Cookies?????

krafty - 9-20-2010 at 06:50 PM

Use whole wheat flour, reduce the sugar....but fer gawd's sake don't substitute margarine:no: for butter!! Walnuts add something, too!

I'll get back to you just as soon as I get her resume on pool cleaning skills....I draw the line on cookie crumbs in the pool!

Natalie Ann - 9-21-2010 at 11:19 AM

While you wait for the Nestle treats, Bajaguy, you might want to buy a few of these Nutri-Grain Bars. They look to be about the same and are currently on sale at Walgreens.

nena

[Edit: Upon further inspection, I see you'll have to dip 'em in chocolate in order to have a fair run at this.]

We'll check this weekend when we're in Rosarito. That's about the only store we haven't looked at in our two-year quest fpr Bocaditos for this deprived child.

sanquintinsince73 - 9-21-2010 at 01:26 PM

If anyone speaks really good spanish, this is the number for Nestle' Mexico : 011-52-55-5624-2149...dial this way from the states. The "55" is the area code for Mexico City. Have the name of the product ready...you may want to write it down. Also, tell them that there is a really cute Americana waiting on her Bocaditos Fresa.

sanquintinsince73 - 9-21-2010 at 01:36 PM

Mr. Bajaguy, it is my sad duty to inform you that this product was discontinued.
It was a promotional product that came on the scene in 2007. I am so sorry.

:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

longlegsinlapaz - 9-21-2010 at 02:52 PM

Well NO WONDER!!!!!!:rolleyes: DISCONTINUED!:fire: Walmart :no:, Sorianas:no:, City Club:no:, wherever the hell else Morgaine7 & I went today :no::no::no::no::no:

Whatever you do, don't send her down here for ME to break the news to her!

My lower back is killing me from all the aisle cruising I did today....I'll be in the pool floating the weight off my spine if you need a good chocolate chip cookie recipe!;)

wessongroup - 9-21-2010 at 02:58 PM

Now you want to talk about help.... wow

DianaT - 9-21-2010 at 03:04 PM

Discontinued! Oh no, I just wrote to the Northgate Mexican Market near us to see if they had them----

And when we were out shopping, we stopped at another Mexican Market and found. These Barritas de Fresa

But they are not chocolate covered. Maybe you could buy these dip these into chocolate---might be close???

sanquintinsince73 - 9-21-2010 at 03:15 PM

The only comfort that I find in all of this is to see how so many people came together to help a fellow Nomad and his grandkids. This is awesome, and I like to think that we are just a microcosm of the truly good people on this beautiful planet. I dare say that we far outnumber the bad ones.......I like you guys.

BajaBlanca - 9-21-2010 at 04:40 PM

well, now we all have to call Nestle and tell them we want to try their BOCADITOS. I am so curious as to how good they were ..... imagine if we all called, then we could really test their customer service skills :light:

alas, we now have to have a quest to find a substitute that makes your grandchild muy feliz.

Resume...????

Legs......she says she doesn't have a resume, just a Yellow Lab!!!!!....she also likes pecans instead of walnuts and wants to know when she can visit you for the pool and the cookies!!!!

Thank you Nomads!!!!!

bajaguy - 9-21-2010 at 08:11 PM

On behalf of my granddaughter I would like to thank all of the Nomads who offered assistance in locating the now discontinued Nestles Bocaditas.....we will have to find something else!!!!!

A special thanks to bajamigo/bajabound2005 who scoured Ensenada, sanquintinsince73 who took the direct route and called Nestles in Mexico City and Longlegsinlapaz who managed to drag Morgaine7 on a very exciting search mission..........

Thank you again!!!!!!!

NOW yer starting to scare me....let's see, one 5-year-old who means business, is picky about the type of nuts in her cookies, who will undoubtedly be bringing a yellow lab, she'd most likely miss her little sis too much to leave her behind for the summer & they'd require an adult escort for the trip south. Did I overlook anyone?

'k....but I only have one bed in the spare room, but what the hey, it's a king, so if you don't mind sleeping with 2 little ones who mean business & a yellow lab....let me check my calendar!:saint:
