October CAN BE a month of great change.
It MAY start out hot and humid like summer
And END much cooler and drier humidity wise
But these seem to not be normal times.

October is the month of change, meaning:
On or around Oct. 5 somebody flips a big switch and overnight you don't need to sleep with a fan on anymore.
The constant, oppressive humidity dissipates which feels soooo much nicer even tho' its still quite hot, temp-wise.
Water temps cool down a bit and homogenize, i.e., the thermocline disappears so visibility and swimming/diving is even more pleasant than the summer
months.
Hot days, cooler nights continue from early October for a couple months to early December when another shift happens and you really become aware of
the wind running from the north which is when you'll break out the long pants and sweatshirt at night.Pompano - 9-20-2010 at 11:51 AM

Gotta love those cooler nights coming up!
edit to add: It does stay a wee bit warmer in the Bay, though..grrr.

Bad guess, Bob, I haven't spent a winter in North Dakota since I was in my 20's. I'm 66 now...
And..you'll be wearing those long pants this winter when the cold wind comes up again out your way. Why else would all those wind-surfers love
