Does anyone know if this has actually happened? If not, what do you think the response would be? (A small wager is in the balance). I have heard
the tale something like this:
2 male visitors are out fishing with their wives in a private boat - the men have fishing licenses but the women do not. On returning to the marina
they are approached by the authorities asking to see their fishing licesnses and boat permits. The men have their licenses/permits but their wives do
not as they are out for the boat ride only. Of course, the regs say everyone must have a fishing license - penalty is confiscation of all fishing
equipment by the local officer. The men ask that if they go purchase licenses can they retrieve their rods and reels - the answer is no. One of the
men grabs both rods by the tip and swings at the nearest rock - rendering the reels useless and snaping the rods. He then grabs a 5-gallon bucket,
puts the useless peices in it and hands it to the officer - presumeably with a smerk of some sort. My question is: does anyone know if this has
actually happen and what do you think the response would be?
It wouldn't surprise me at all

but don't know of any first hand stories.
"The men ask that if they go purchase licenses can they retrieve their rods and reels - the answer is no."
The answer is always yes if you are not a jerk.
But since the laws were being broken, to pull such an imbecilic maneuvre would call for the raping and pillaging that is deserved by such stupid
actions.
Depending on what the wives looked like of course !

Staying at Diaz's one trip in '95 or '96 Department de Pesca was checking licenses as the pangas were coming back to the ramp. Two gringos on one of
the boats did not have licenses and figured since they were from L.A. CA. they did not need them. The officer was very patient but would not let them
unload their gear, he kept saying you need to go buy a license they have them right at Diazs store. The guys kept trying to get their gear, and then
finally tried telling the officer that they would get legal after they unloaded the boat and cleaned up. No go. So they started telling the officer
how important they are in L.A. CA and they don't need a mexican license. Still no go. They finally walked up, bought two licenses and came back to
the ramp where the officer checked their licenses, thanked them, and then helped them unload their gear.
