Anyone driving south of Hwy1 able to post some photos of how bad the construction is? And approx. how long it is. do I need to find a "bonnet" for my
new Toyota Sienna. How bad will the "windshield" exposure be?Bob and Susan - 10-3-2010 at 03:39 PM
its rough HARD packed dirt
about 20 miles
no rocks kicked up from vehicles
water trucks are watering the dirt
some mud yesterday after a rainshower
my average speed was 30mph on saturday
lots of dump trucks and gradersDavid K - 10-3-2010 at 03:51 PM
2 weeks ago the construction zone went from the south end of Maneadero to just before the Ejido Uruapan side road... about 10 miles. The detours were
not bad compared to the ones south of Tecate on Mex. 3.
Photos northbound taken in July, but looked the same 2 weeks ago:
Here is the paved detour along the El Rosario bridge:
You will have a great time!Bob and Susan - 10-3-2010 at 04:03 PM
oh no...
it was MUCH worse than that saturday
all dirt and bumpy
very simular to the tecate construction nowDianaT - 10-3-2010 at 04:14 PM
Last Tuesday, LOTS of bumpy dirt, many confusing flagmen, but made it through
with a brand new windshield with no rock nicks----
Just take it slow and it should be no real problem. Windshield? Well the last one was destroyed by a flying rock from a weed mower along side the
paved highway near San Quintin---never know where it will happen.mtgoat666 - 10-3-2010 at 04:31 PM

it's very bad. dust, sun, heat, bugs,... horrible. stay home and your car will thank you.bill erhardt - 10-3-2010 at 05:37 PM
Take your time and you'll be fine. You won't be going fast enough to ding the grill or windshield of your new Toy.

South of Ensanda to military ck point Rough 2 lane dirt rd . go slow no problemncampion - 10-3-2010 at 08:10 PM
Does anyone know exactly what they are doing with that road??? Is it going to be four lanes?? Seems like a lot of work if they are just going to
keep it at two lanes.jak - 10-3-2010 at 08:44 PM
I believe it is infrastructure work for the new port being built south of Ensenada.David K - 10-3-2010 at 10:20 PM
I wish it was four lanes... but seeing what they did on the first part it looks just like the newer style wider 2 lanes with shoulders (wide enough
for bicycles, finally). I hope the rebuilt bridges will handle 4 lanes so if that time comes, they are ready for it.David K - 10-3-2010 at 10:24 PM

I believe that is a dead project... with U.S. economy way down... the fewer imports are being handled in our ports just fine. The shipments were to be
taken by a new train line from Colonet through Valle de Trainidad to Yuma or Mexicali area and into the U.S. there.
A new road was mentioned, but the work now is right on the existing highway upgrading it like they are in other parts of Baja.
