Points South

briantroy - 10-6-2010 at 01:50 AM

Due to a recent series of unexpected events, I find myself with nearly two free weeks to explore Baja. I don't really have a plan except to drive my van (converted into a camper) south and find some interesting places/people and maybe do some fishing. I'm open to suggestions, caravans, passengers and the like. I'm not really into going south of Rosario just because of gas prices, but I would be willing to do so if a passenger split the tab.

I can leave 10/7 so long as I am back in San Diego by 10/18. My van conversion is dependable, pretty near self-sufficient and I have all the camping necessities; boondocking isn't a problem. I am familiar with the culture and my Spanish is equal to a 4 year old child who has had a few drinks; it gets the job done, but it aint pretty. I'm open to any ideas or suggetions so all responses are welcome!

Hit "La Chorera" in San Quintin.

Yup gas south of the border area special zone is about $2.40/ gallon the rest of Baja at Pemex stations.

Some ideas...
1) Puerto Santo Tomas
2) Punta Cabras
3) San Antonio Del Mar (west of Colonet)
4) El Pabellon (south of San Quintin)
5) La Bocana Beach and Punta Baja region west of El Rosario.

After a consultation with David K I have decided to hit Bahia Los Angeles via Mexicali on the 5. From there I will head over to the Pacific side and come back up through El Rosario/Ensenada. Still open to suggetions, companions and the like.
