There IS a problem there! Just started this past summer...I guess times were very lean. I know two people who got pulled over for "speeding". I can vouch that 1 definitely was not as I was directly behind him following him through Mexicali. We were at a stop light, when it turned green we'd just gotten up to 25 K in a 40 k zone when the policia pulled in ahead of me and put the light on our friend..charge was "speeding".

Maybe we can get a bunch of t-shirts, or car banners printed up like this to use when driving through places like TJ, Mexicali, CC etc.

These methods have to be considered from all angles. They could easily backfire.

I agree with you Dennis. Those corrupt cops have guns and they get you in a quiet place and there wife just left them and they had a couple beers...who knows. For me it's better to get a feel for the occasion and act accordingly

I still prefer the "mumble and drool" method. It's effectively disarming.

I tend to agree with this thumping the chest
by Gringos with printed out Sindicatura posters
would do very little to intimadate a Mex Cop,
I think they would get a chuckle out of it,
The Cop you are taking a photo of, jotting
down his nameplate, his brother is probably Chief
of Police. Have heard of Mexicalli Cops threatening
Gringo drivers with arrest if they don't pay up.
Get back to me on how your Sindictura t shirt
works out

It occurs to me that some of these guys may not even be bonafide police, or maybe they are on the "auxiliary" force. Not employees, just guys given a shirt and badge so they can go out and make a few bucks pulling people over.
That happened once to me in a border town, Ciudad Acuna, where a guy wearing a khaki shirt, a cop hat and a badge of no agency tried to get me to pay him for "helping" me parallel park. He told me "You can teeep me now senor" but I kept walking.

Did you have to buy a new set of tires after that?

Don't wear your Rolex watch. It may attract a negative situation.

Don't wave a wad of USD's. It may attract a negative situation.

Don't smoke a joint on the sidewalk. It may attract a negative
situation.

Don't have a sign posted on your car window that insinuates cops are bad. It may attract a negative situation.

Duh!
