San Felipe News

Riom - 10-7-2010 at 08:01 PM

My new website, San Felipe News:

http://www.sanfelipenews.com

It contains automatically updated links to news from most local sources, plus
some news stories I add from other places (such as a link to today's New York
Times article on San Felipe and El Dorado Ranch).

My other site San Felipe Life will continue, for infrequent reference articles.

San Felipe News will be more of a "breaking news" site, and a single place for a
quick summary of what's happening, without having to visit loads of blogs
individually.

I'll also be allowing anybody to post news stories, specials, gigs, for-sale
announcments etc. (I'm just working on making that a bit more user friendly
before I release it).

Does news actually "break" in San Felipe? I thought it was pretty laid back.

It's not that bad really,we have a generator and they supply the gas and we dont go down there in the summer months.

Riom - 10-13-2010 at 01:43 PM

The "breaking news" this month was a new ATM machine. :-)

I'll add some more breaking news in a month or two. :-)

Yes, it's a pretty laid back place.

That's actually one of the main reasons for the site, so little happens that most local websites don't get many updates, so you forget to go look at them (or get bored looking every day and seeing no change).

San Felipe News checks them automatically, and posts a link when a site has an update, saves somebody checking them all manually, they just need to watch the updates at one page at San Felipe News. It means that a story on a minor or infrequently updated blog is more likely to be seen, sooner.

Read the site and you'll find out ... :-) ---> http://www.sanfelipenews.com

(for those that don't have the time for that, it's outside the Sundance Deli, across from the El Dorado Pemex).

One of the good things about San Felipe is there isn't that much "hard news". Not too many murders, robberies, car crashes, explosions ...

Which basically leaves social and charity events, and comings and goings of businesses. In a place where not a lot happens, that's the news.

Having said that, I just point to the news that exists (as well as adding a bit of my own). So if someone writes a blog that has the "rest of the news" in San Felipe, I'd be happy to add links to the stories in it, to give a more balanced picture.
