Hi i am backpacking through through central and south america over the next year. I will be crossing the border from SD into TJ mid oct and from there
bussing south through baja from there. I have friends who live in Todos Santos but I would love to break up the trip down there (24 hour bus ride to
la paz sounds pretty painful not to mention missing alot of amazing things).
Can anyone recommend a couple towns? I was thinking along the lines of san miguel the first night and then and something near san ignacio the second
night?? abreojos?? I am looking for places I can camp and surf on the cheap side. I understand budget and baja dont exactly go hand in hand but any
advice would be greatly appreciated.
Also can anybody recommend any good used board shops in northern baja?
Thanks for the help!

Ensenada, and take a boat-ride to the island of TS for some really big waves.
Cheap surfing is mostly on beaches far away from the one and only hwy.
Other interesting places are Santa Rosalia, mulege, Loreto and of course La Paz.
Driving down around the same time but sorry, no space left. Have a good trip!

There's a lot of good spots just as you enter Baja to surf, but I am not feeling that safe camping there anymore. K38 (38 kilometers down) has a cool
little surf hotel. Last time I was there I think it was $30 for a room. The surf there is usually fun.
Quatro Casas just south of Colonet. There is a surf hostel there. You could probably start walking the dirt road out to the point then probably get
picked up but I donno.
Catavina is a cool area to stop and camp for the night. Huge granite boulders, cardons, boojums, etc.... my favorite place in Baja.
Further south before G. Negro you have the Wall which is pretty close to the Hwy. Its really crowded there though. Abreojos and south for a while
won't have much to surf and is a long drive from the hwy. San Ignacio is pretty sweet.
