Dental tourism?

I know that some people go down to Mexico and get medical procedures done for a fraction of the costs charged up here -- but what about dentistry?

I'm due for a cleaning, and then just the other day I chipped my tooth biting down on a BB shot. I'll never learn :)

Anyway, the quote for the cleaning and the exam is 200.00, and the chipped tooth last time cost another 200 to patch up.

Does anyone have experience with dentists in Baja, like in Santa Rosalia or maybe Loreto, which would suggest I could get all this done more cheaply during my month-long trip coming up this Sunday?

Algodones (near Yuma) is a whole town that specializes in medical stuff - dentists, doctors, opticians and pharmacies. Many come to Yuma and spend the winter there, getting all their medical stuff done any saving enough to pay for the trip (at least that's what they say). Probably better prices than any of the towns further down in Baja. I know the prices are better than San Felipe.

Sounds good Bajalou, maybe I can go through Algodones on the way home :)

I had the chance to hear the founder of Denticenter speak a few weeks back at the Baja California Investment Forum. I can't speak from personal experience, but they appear to have reputable dental services available just across the border in a number of cities in Baja:

My friends drive from Las Vegas to their get dental work done in Rosarito. We switched about four years ago ourselves when cleanings went up to $125 at our San Diego dentist vs $30 here. Then I got brave and had a crown done down here- $200 vs $800. I had my San Diego dentist check the crown just in case and she said it was fine (sometimes they get the margins wrong). So that was my last visit to see her I guess. Use a Dentist other nomads like and use and you'll be fine- but with a lot more money in your pocket. This isn't small change.

I have used the Algodones dental services for over 10 years and the the service is top notch and the prices are not too bad either. If you want to get a feel for the various dentists, try this:
