I Was Not Hallucinating

It's been many years since we've crossed N/B at Tecate. To give you an idea, the road from Ensenada still ran straight to the gate. Anyway, we were finishing a a two week Baja explore on Tuesday. Our progress Northward was setting up to have us at the border in the heart of rush hour. So, I decided to cross at Tecate, figuring there is no real rush hour there inasmuch ass there's no population to the North. Even though I'm no particular fan of the long ride through Jamul, Etc. so, it was 5pm Tuesday when we headed for the gate. We were third in line when we arrived. Wow!

I'm guessing, however, that when they finish the highway widening program, it's going to attract way more travelers.

What's wrong with that ride....does it wear out your steering wheel?

Don't let Tecate fool you, sometimes it is as atrocious as Sidro.

Well.......it does represent the type of challenge that one thinks they have left behind.

I know. Had a rather long wait the last time. Problem is there are, what, only two gates? Figure when they finish to road from Ensenada, it will be a mess crossing.

Appreciate Cal-Trans. They lean on shovels for you.

We have crossed at Tecate about two dozen times in the last 4 years, only because it is closer to where we are headed. The shortest wait we have had is 15 minutes, the longest 2 hours.

I think you got lucky.

We crossed at Tecate on Sunday. It took us about an hour to get through. They had the two gates open plus were taking automobile traffic through the two commerical truck gates. I had called the Border Wait time line and found that the gates at Mexicali were well over two hours long.
