Governor Ventura on Baja

castaway$ - 10-17-2010 at 11:55 AM

I was listening to the Bob & Tom show on the radio friday and they were interviewing Governor Ventura about many things including the 6 months a year he spends in Baja, apparently he is a surfer.
The best part of the interview was when he summarized his time in Baja- "When I get up in the morning I have nothing to do, at the end of the day I'm only half finished".
Perfect:yes:

sancho - 10-17-2010 at 01:37 PM

Missed the Baja reference, but he has
credibility in my eyes, as a couple days
ago referred to Bill O Reilly as a
spineless puke.
Barry, throttle back a bit,
both these guys are for entertainment
value only, not to be takes seriously.
Have a couple Pacificos on me

He is a media personality, nothing more, and we already have way too many of those. Lately his glibly stated ideas have been off-the-wall, for sure.

I think someone was grasping for "credible" Don't think Jesse needs to borrow money.

That said, although he seemingly has gone a little bit around the bend as he ages, he was always a tad off the wall. Seems to me that fame and notoriety go a long way in getting people with little or no background in government or political science elected. That and the general discontent voters have with so-called career politicians.

Anyone think Arnie has been a success in CA?

Great person

Hanged out on the east cape great people, "end quote !!"

vgabndo - 10-17-2010 at 09:23 PM

Maybe he was referring to chickenhawk O'Reilly's military service.

After he spoke HIS truth on the VIEW, my first thought was that following that logic there should be no Christian temples in the United States, since Christians killed nine out of ten Native Americans in the great Manifest Destiny genocide.
(source: The National Museum of the American Indian)

Unfortunately they didn't leave enough innocent Indians alive to prevent their raising their "houses of God" all over the Indian's neighborhoods.

I got to thinking, my post doesn't relate to Baja, on second thought it relates to ALL of Mexico.

Too bad hypocracy isn't a fatal disease.

I believe you are forgetting context again, Vag. The American Indian got a really tragic deal back then--------few would deny that-------but this is now and that was then. O'Rielly simply said (over and over again) that of course it was legal, but insensitive, to build the Mosque near ground zero----period. Many, including me, agree.

I, and my family, support most Am. Indian initiatives partially because of the injustice to them by our ancestors-----our personal choice----and my son has long worked as an attorney and contract administrator for many tribes. He now works for the Paiutes in Bishop, CA. (6 yrs)

Governor Jesse Ventura gets my vote!

I can't stand O Reilly's confrontational tone, nor his Fox channel.

redhilltown - 10-18-2010 at 12:05 AM

I'll take the baja surfer guy who served his county and at least tried to do the right thing by serving in public office making a hell of a lot less than he could have on the "outside" over another chicken hawk shill for Murdoch who sends other people off to die as he sleeps in his 10 million dollar NYC penthouse.

O'Reilly is the patriot? That is who you want on your side when the going gets tough? Oooooooooooooooooooooooookay...good luck to ya.

capt. mike - 10-18-2010 at 04:50 AM

O' Reilly is RIGHT!:light:;)

I Agree redhilltown

Cypress - 10-18-2010 at 06:40 AM

O'Reilly can be overbearing. He's also works for the best source of political news available. ;) Watching it right now!;D

Ken, you support Jesse-----ok------but Jesse is not "confrontational"????????? Seems like a double-standard to me that frankly does not track. Explain------

Personally I like Jesse as he makes you think, but I don't often agree with him, especially in the last few years.

Barry

Tbone - 10-18-2010 at 07:41 AM

Jesse is a wack job. I heard him on the radio say that it wasn't an airplane that hit the pentagon. He's a actor and it's all about making a buck.

"Fair and Balanced" as it is by using manufactured footage, refusing to let a dissident speak (O"Really: Cut off his mike), and hypocrisy (Loofah Sponge Bill).

Barry A. - 10-18-2010 at 08:16 AM

O'Reilly runs the "NO SPIN ZONE"-------spin, and take the risk of being cut off. (thank Gawd)

The rest Oxxo says is baloney.

FOX NEWS ratings & stats continue to climb after 13 years---------can you say the same for the other news sources on TV?

You really ought to try it------you will like it. FAIR AND BALANCED with an advertised Conservative emphathise. What could be better?

Gotta luv it!!!!

As for "baloney", ask "no spin" Bull what he would like to do with a loofah sponge.

bajajazz - 10-18-2010 at 08:43 AM

So far as I know Jesse Ventura has never had to pay seven million dollars to a former employee to settle a really gross sexual harassment suit. The transcripts of O'Reilly's dirty phone calls to his female producer make for some hilarious although lurid reading. They reveal the mind of a dirty little boy. But the transcripts would probably be lost on O'Reilly's fans, as I'm not sure they know how to read. And even if they do it's a fair bet reading is an activity they don't engage in very much.

Cypress - 10-18-2010 at 08:59 AM

There you go. If you're not able to advance an argument on the political front, you drag out some old personal baggage. Doesn't work anymore.

Hi Folks, I've spent time in the water with Jesse on the East Cape (9 palms, Shark Pit, Terranova) and at the Crossroads- he seldom talks politics, he can surf, and he has always been gracious and friendly. He is not any more stranger, odder, or weirder than anyone else on the East Cape.;)

Well that is sure a sterling testimonial

redhilltown - 10-18-2010 at 11:24 PM

Cypress the whole thread had little to do with a "political front"...whatever that is. If you are a powerful media married man hot chatting a co-worker during the day and then crying out at night against the godless liberals I would not call that "personal baggage" but rather "hypocrisy". Which of course is not a gift to the left or the right. IF Jesse is a blow hard he is a consistent blow hard unlike spineless chicken hawk studs like Bill, Hannity, and Cheney who "turn and run farther when the fast bullets fly."

Yea, you've got the playbook down pat. Very predictable! When all else fails play the "hypocrisy card'. Sorry that card's has lost it's power. And the next card is?

But by O'Reilly's standards, along with the rest of that Faux News group, Goldwater would be called a commie today.

And Oxxo, in this statement

Obama is A Fa$cist, Communist Muslim?

you forgot to add Radical Christian Extremist, N-zi and Not an American Citizen.

Barry A. - 10-19-2010 at 09:59 AM

I find it interesting that when I used to hear bad things about MSNBC on Fox News I was curious and suspicious, so I went over to monitor MSNBC (and still do) and what I found is that it is MUCH WORSE than Fox ever reported.

As always, it is all "perspective and perceptions", isn't it. :light:

You mean MSNBC didn't just call Obama a Muslim, they called him an extremist Muslim? I'm going to have to start watching MSNBC if that's the case! :wow:

redhilltown - 10-19-2010 at 03:02 PM

A tired old worn out cliche such as "playbook" is fine and dandy but "hypocrisy" is not? Yawn.

(checks playbook) Oooops...sorry, I meant ZZZZZZZZ.
