Vehicle Importation Permit

Hey All- About to depart from Oregon on my first Baja road trip. I have read that you need a vehicle importation permit to drive in mexico, however i have also read that you don't need it for Baja Sur or Norte...does anyone know the rules on this?

You do not need it for Baja or Baja California Sur! So no problem.

While not an absolute requirement, do buy Mexican Car Insurance. We use BajaBound and buy ours online. There are others.

Also, don't forget to get your tourist visa after you cross the border----bring you passports.

And above all else HAVE A GREAT TIME. Where are you headed?

Headed ultimately for los Barriles...have been down there the last two november's, but it's never enough time, so we are taking a motorhome for a month...can't wait to leave! any suggestions for good places to spend some time? oh also does anyone know if there is an R.V. park in Guerrero Negro?
