Yeah, comitan posted on the 5.8 thread. Looks like it was about 85 miles NE of La Paz in SOC. My neighbors felt it pretty good.

Apparently there has been a whole series in this area

out in the gulf....right on the fault line there...hmmm...heads up folks.

We felt it as a hard earthquake it also seemed to last a long time. UNAM has it as a 6.5.

Just talked to Dra. Bajabass, she felt nothing in El Centenario.

LA PAZ Major Earthquake

DavidE - 10-21-2010 at 07:49 PM

Some say 6.5 on the Richter Scale, other sites say 7.1

What counts are physical effects which are tallied on the Modified Mercalli Scale.

Could range anywhere from a hard shake to moderate destruction with casualties.

Dang I hope it's the former...

rts551 - 10-21-2010 at 08:09 PM

At this time the USGS only lists a 4.1 60 miles NE of La Paz.

I was in La Paz today, didn't see any damage and no one even mentioned feeling it.
