Going South, the answer is arbitrary depending on how hungry the crew is. I've had apples/oranges taken, and when in my RV, questioned about ''meat.'' My RV has been boarded and fridge searched. Migracion has also asked for my ''papers'' and they have been ''stamped.''

Going North, no one is on duty at the hour I pass through.

Many years ago on my way north we were stopped at the inspection station and asked about what were bringing north, it was summer. They listed a number things not allowed. The list was something like, do you have potatoes, mangos, oranges, etc, apples, mayonnaise. I asked if mayonnaise was contraband, and the guard said "no no, the guy ahead of you gave us some tuna and we need mayonnaise to makes sandwiches". So we gave them some, they thanked us and we were on our way.

 Why not? They would do the same for you if you ask them for mayo.

I have never been stopped going north. Going south we are usually stopped but never searched. One time we told them we had a couple of oranges and they gladly accepted those.
