Rescuing Russ's Reef

bonanza bucko - 10-24-2010 at 10:20 AM

A week ago Thursday, in a very dark morning, a chubasco sunk Russ's boat. Ver Big Bummer!

But everyone showed up to re float her.

We called it "Russ's Reef.

Even the Dawgs helped.

You do need to love baja BCs. for this .... Thanks all

Russ - 10-24-2010 at 10:31 AM

Not this Russ. Mine would only take 2 people to retrieve. And a whole lot less beer after all that fun! Your Russ must be really happy you recorded the event;)

thanks did not look like what had seen before.... and by the way.. how is the "extension" working out for launching and getting back onto the trailer?

Russ - 10-24-2010 at 11:01 AM

It was too long for the suspension so I'm having it shortened by 4' and I'll try again.And/ or move the boat back on the bunks.

Good thing the dogs showed up to help---couldn't have done it without them. They look like they were have a great time with all those people in the water trying to retrieve the big water toy.

Great series, and great job saving the boat!

WTF?

tiotomasbcs - 10-24-2010 at 01:38 PM

The engine started right up?! Hope so. Little chubasco this last week?? Ya gotta always keep an eye on the horizon and be ready to run for cover! Good community effort. Smiles Tio

the engine WOULD start the first day...
its the second day when the problems occur

that thing needs to be soaked in fresh water and sprayed with oil

the electrics may never be the same

I've heard that if a submerged motor is not worked on the same day you have to re-submerge it. Hope it survives!

Just a typical day on Gonzaga Bay!:tumble:

chubasco.....oh yeah!
I was heading for GB, but decided to wait it out at the Christina's area. That super wind blew and blew for days...with no let up. Seeing this picture above.....guess I made to right decision not to go there.

We have a group of BajaNomands from Grass Valley that arrived at Punta Finale last Monday....I hope they survived this crazy weather down there.

The electronics on that boat......flush all parts with alcohol ASAP. This will clean out the garbage and dry out the parts instantly.
