This post seems to be the one trolling! :light:

David K - 10-27-2010 at 03:57 PM

See Shari in Bahia Asuncion and BajaBlanca in La Bocana!

(I have no fiancial interest in either of their business, but will vouch that you won't regret spending time with either of them or their towns. Nomad is about helping others to discover fun in Baja.)

If you would like to see some photos of various sites in Baja, click on the links below in my signature...

No Just an observation.

David K - 10-27-2010 at 03:59 PM

Why not contribute something that does a visitor some good instead of raining on others here?

norte - 10-27-2010 at 04:05 PM

Maybe I did and you just didn't agree. Maybe it didn't contribute anything, but I thought I was entitled to my observation. Didn'tknow you were the board Police. Now I know. I'll try to do better in the future. Sir

Go stay with Shari and see what a great time you can have... even if you don't fish! Blanca also does a nice job and helps the local kids so much with getting them bikes. What is wrong with them inviting Nomads to enjoy their businesses and areas? If it were just 'take take take 'I would agree with self promoting being questionable... But these two ladies GIVE, GIVE, GIVE... You read Nomad, you should see this too, norte.

Thanks for listening!

BTW....make sure to stop at Daggets in BoLA. WONDERFUL! Paved from the highway too

Bajahowodd - 10-27-2010 at 04:32 PM

The key on this website is to provide an experience that merits the pandering. I absolutely cannot fault anyone running a business that posts here. The proof is in the pudding. You run a business and post here, but your offering falls way short? Well, the truth will out. Frankly, I cannot recall a single negative post on this forum about either Shari or Blanca and their places. So, I really don't think anyone ought to be dissing them. That's not to say that from time to time, we do find charlatans and trolls posting. But these two women are obviously the real deal, offering gracious hospitality.

That said, I'll expose my ignorance. EH????

ummm Norte...show me where I was trolling in my post???? I'm really puzzled...I just welcomed them to the board and said we'd like to hear the trip report...WTF? Nice of you to welcome the new amigos here....you got a problem with canadians???

Davey...dont pay any attention to some of the cranks on this board.

Are you trying to tell me you don't use this board to promote your family businesses? If so you lost a lot of credibility with me. Oh and nice language for a business woman.

shari - 10-27-2010 at 04:55 PM

ohhh you got me there norte....jeepers I wouldnt want to lose credibility with you....this board does bring alot of folks our way and I am happy to show people around whether they stay with us or not...but in this particular post I was simply welcoming a paisano to the neighbourhood.

Can I not be friendly without being accused of trolling??? sheesh. I enjoy contributing positive and informative comments here and would do so whether I had a business or not.
sorry if my language offended you...i admit I dont have the cleanest mouth in baja.:saint:

motoged - 10-27-2010 at 05:02 PM

I must admit that I will shamelessly plug Shari and Juan's ventures in BA, not just because they are genuine folks who work hard and are generous and kind souls, but also in hopes that by sucking up to them ....er, uh....promoting them ;D:lol::saint: ...I might get invited to some of their wonderful social occasions when in the neighborhood:light:

Norte, I am known to also offer rude comments on BN when a post bothers me....just don't know what bothered you about her welcome mat? She can hold her own, so WTF is wrong with that?

Fellow BCer Dave....Bahia Concepcion is a spectacular place to hang out (Mulege is better than Loreto I think as it is a bit more "typical")....Cabo is a good place to avoid but go there just to have a taste....this forum is a great place to get info....and opinions. Welcome to the sandbox....

jeremias - 10-27-2010 at 05:11 PM

Wish I was in Asuncion. How's the ocean temp about now Shari?

shari - 10-27-2010 at 05:34 PM

the ocean is 10-15 degrees cooler than usual...that is to say it's in the mid 60's...perfect for a nice bracing dip...too cold for snorkeling without a wet suit unless you have awfully thick skin....Ok for boogie boarding and shore fishing....i think the water is too cold when my ankles go numb...so it's just nice right now...for canucks anyway.

Good day, eh?

windgrrl - 10-27-2010 at 06:03 PM

Welcome aboard and here's to you Daveylikesit!

I have no stake in any businesses, but if I didn't have other plans, I would absolutely consider Shari & Bajablanca as potential hosts. They bring a positive vibe to the tribe here.

jim1944 - 10-27-2010 at 06:57 PM

Hi Davey

Hope you enjoy the trip. We have been going to Baja off and on for 16 years from southern BC. Contact me on u2u if I can help. This thread sort of wandered all over

Jim

krafty - 10-27-2010 at 07:01 PM

amen windgrrl-boy things around here can turn on a dang dime!

vgabndo - 10-27-2010 at 07:11 PM

Hey Davey, I've only had one chance to visit Bahia Asuncion, but I'll tell you there are few places like it in Baja and I absolutely fell in love with it.

As for Shari promoting her business, I'm betting she has done more for the people of the community than she has done for herself.

Unlike a lot of self-righteous ex-pats on this board, she has fully "bought-in". She's a Mexican citizen, her husband is a Mexican pilar of the community. I can't imagine her saying a disrespectful word about Mexico or Mexicans. And, she's an absolute sweetheart. Juan too!

mcfez - 10-27-2010 at 07:12 PM

It's just like the weather here Folks......can change at anytime

sanquintinsince73 - 10-27-2010 at 11:46 PM

Welcome Daveylikesit, Canucks rock......so does your whiskey.

Mike99km - 10-28-2010 at 09:05 AM

Maps, The American Auto Club has a good map of Baja also check out the Baja Almanac out of Las Vegas. All can be picked up at Discover Baja Travel club for a bit of a premium.A very good guide for fishing is, The Baja Catch. Good insight for fishing without making bait and fishing areas. All can be picked up a Discover Baja Travel Club at a premium.
http://www.discoverbaja.com/

The biggest issue for fishing will be the weather, windy at times on the Sea of Cortez and big swells on the Pacific. If you use your head you'll be fine.

Other places to check out:
The beach around Ej. Erendira has great perch fishing from shore. The fishing charter is also good for bottom fish.
Drive out to La Lobera, great place to stretch the legs and very unique. It's just before El Rosario and the road is easy to miss. If the get to the top of the hill going south you are to far.
San Quintin both inside the bay and the pacific side of of the cape. (watch the sand on the outside). Lots of info posted.
The beach at El Rosario. The road to Punta Baja might be to bad for your rig. I love the area south for fishing.
San Carlos can be windy but you'll only have Windsurfer's for neighbors.
Bahia de Los Angeles is worth seeing. Lots of info posted. The beaches south of there are very cool but hard to get to with a Motor home.
If your down between the end of Jan. and March check out the whales for sure.
The whole area between Punta Engenta and Punta Abreojosis worth checking out, the roads between towns might be a issue. See above posts.
The area south of Mulege is very cool and easy to get to.
Take a day to drive inland to San Javier mission the oldest original mission still standing(over 300 years old).
La Purisima and the coast around there is cool.
Puerto Lopez Matos is is good inside fishery, also look at the Mag. bay area for fishing, San Carlos is a bit industrial.
Todos Santos and the beaches north and south are very nice.
The East Cape and Cabo are all covered elsewhere on Nomads.

Actually Discover Baja members get a discount price on books and maps... Regular price for non-members, who can go there and buy them, too.

stop by Punta Banda/ La Bufadora on way down also (just south of Ensenada) and plenty of cheap RV hookups at Campo La Jolla. several Canadians from Alberta down here, including my wife.

Whewww:P

BajaRat - 10-28-2010 at 11:11 AM

Welcome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We wish you safe and memorable travels. I hope you find the people and this land as awe inspiring as most of us do. I have been traveling this amazing peninsula with my parents since 1965 and continue to do so with my young family. The entire Baja peninsula has so many fantastic places to explore. David K has some wonderful trip resources on his website. As for the Viscaino peninsula, its new road improvements have made this remote region more accessible to all kinds of travel modes. It still remains unspoiled with miles of beautiful beaches, unique desert landscapes and small towns with every thing you need. We were so moved by this region and its kind people that we are actively working on immigrating there. Shari, Juan and their family are some of the finest people you will ever meet. Have fun and post lots of pictures.
Adios, Lionel

and now...our thanks

mcfez - 10-28-2010 at 11:25 AM
