As on every day of the year I am always thankful for the sacrifices that our brave men and women have made throughout our history so that we can be a
free nation. From the American Revolution to Normandie, Guadalcanal, Inchon, Hue City, Beirut, Granada, Bhagdad, and Kabul, we raise our right arms in
salute and tribute. To all of those who made the ultimate sacrifice for us, thank you.
Also, let us not forget November 10, 1775. Tun Tavern Pennsylvania. A few good men got together and they were called the Continental Marines. Today
they are known as The United States Marine Corps. Happy Birthday to all current and former Marines.woody with a view - 11-6-2010 at 01:22 PM

Doesn't sound like the old time Marine Corp to me. Back in the day, [arn't you completely sick and tired of hearing that?] that was the job of the
Drill Sergeant or George Patton.
I never get tired of watching that movie. I'm getting it ready for our next rainy day.

My Grandpa's boat was a little thing named the "Arizona". By a twist of fate, grandpa was stateside in Dec 1941.
I have always and will always stand and salute those who have served to protect what we enjoy. It is not forgotten or unacknowledged. I hope to
never have occasion understand what those who have been in combat have gone though. We who have not been there will never understand what those who
have been there have gone through.
But I hope those who have been in combat and/or served in the military know that there are MANY who know and appreciate what our military brothers and
sisters have done and are doing.

having never served, i find a certain amount of satisfaction working for the best design-build contractor in the UNITED STATES. our goal, from the

My wife and youngest daughter were in San Diego this past July and I wanted to show them where I spent my boot camp at NTC San Diego in 1959. Well
it's all gone now. Just the chapel and the post headquarters building and one set of guns are left. It's now a shopping center, a park and
condominiums.
I went into the supermarket there and above the checkout stands was a hugo old photo of hundreds of Bluejackets standing at quarters in front of those
old white barracks. They were in dress blues with SA stripes so it was probably their last muster at boot camp. And they were all smiling and I know
how they felt.DENNIS - 11-10-2010 at 08:39 AM

I will be visiting my favorite veteran tomorrow at a local veterans home. I visit regularly and enjoy talking with all of the vets there, they all
have stories, amazing stories to tell if you take the time to ask. And I'm not talking about war stories, simply the stories of their lives and what
they did after their service. Truly America's Greatest Generation.baitcast - 11-10-2010 at 09:09 AM
My hat is always off for any vet past or present, but every veterans and Memorial Day everyone always forgets the good guys all 50,000 of them from the
Korean War who never made it home, the forgotten War or believe it or not a police action.
The politicians of the day could not call it what it was a war,it wouldn,t look good on thier resumes thus a police action.

Back in September, on the first day of school, Martha Cothren, a social studies school teacher at Joe T. Robinson High School, in Little Rock,
Arkansas, did something not to be forgotten.
On the first day of school, with the permission of the school superintendent, the principal and the building supervisor, she removed all of the desks
from her classroom.
When the first period kids entered the room they discovered that there were no desks.
'Ms.. Cothren, where are our desks?'
She replied, 'You can't have a desk until you tell me how you earn the right to sit at a desk.'
They thought, 'Well, maybe it's our grades.'
'No,' she said.
'Maybe it's our behavior.'
She told them, 'No, it's not even your behavior.'
And so, they came and went, the first period, second period, third period. Still no desks in the classroom.
By early afternoon television news crews had started gathering in Ms.Cothren's classroom to report about this crazy teacher who had taken all the
desks out of her room.
The final period of the day came and as the puzzled students found seats on the floor of the deskless classroom, Martha Cothren said, 'Throughout the
day no one has been able to tell me just what he/she has done to earn the right to sit at the desks that are ordinarily found in this classroom. Now I
am going to tell you.'
At this point, Martha Cothren went over to the door of her classroom and opened it.
Twenty-seven (27) War Veterans, all in uniforms, walked into that classroom, each one carrying a school desk. The Vets began placing the school desks
in rows, and then they would walk over and stand alongside the wall... By the time the last soldier had set the final desk in place those kids started
to understand, perhaps for the first time in their lives, just how the right to sit at those desks had been earned..
Martha said, 'You didn't earn the right to sit at these desks. These heroes did it for you. They placed the desks here for you. Now, it's up to you to
sit in them. It is your responsibility to learn, to be good students, to be good citizens. They paid the price so that you could have the freedom to
get an education. Don't ever forget it.'
By the way, this is a true story.
Please consider passing this along so others won't forget that the freedoms we have in this great country were earned by War Veterans.

In honor of Remembrance Day I would like you guys to see this video. It is called Highway of Hero's performed by The Trews. And there is such a
highway. It is Hwy 401 and it stretches from Windsor Ontario to Quebec. This is where all the fallen soldiers go to on their final destination.

A huge thank you to all veterans out there, and those that gave their lives so we can live in such a great country. Watched maybe five hours of

least one 'special' showing.

I am born and raised in East Los Angeles and reside in San Diego. In E.L.A. we have many liquor stores owned by foreign nationals and a big population
of homeless Viet-Nam veterans. It always pi$$ ed me off how these vets would walk into a foreigner owned liquor store and the foreign owner would
literally follow them around in there "to make sure they wouldn't steal anything". That really chaps my hide.
I know that foreigners have to take an exam to become citizens and I firmly believe that they should also be taught the value that we place in our
veterans and that without their sacrifices there would be no USA to immigrate to.
