Why would anyone go through the hassle parking their car on the US side, tramping through to the Mexican side to find the office, pay the money at the bank, then go through the new hassle getting back to the US, find their car and then proceed into Mexico to go through the hassle again ?? :no::no:

The 'FM-T' was changed to an 'FMM' several months ago... Any photos of the new form?

Since you are on the clock when you enter Mexico with it, where do drivers turn it it at the end of their trip, so the clock stops...?

Tourists are now only allowed to be in Mexico for 180 days a year... If you don't turn it it after a week long vacation and want t spend a second week in Mexico 7 months later, you are out of luck! They will think you were in Mexico the whole 6 months when you return on the 7th month... and because gringos who lease land or have vacation homes in Mexico without getting an FM-3 visa have been using only FM-Ts, they created the FMM to put a stop to part timers calling themselves 'tourists'.

I don't see where the FMM can be reused multiple times during the 180 days... as we could with the FM-T. So, that means paying $20+ per person, every trip, during the 6 months.

Is there a free FMM for terips of 7 days or less???

This can't be good for the people of Baja who depend on tourism...

Mucho posts on this subject, D Eidell, whom I have read
for yrs., had a post debunking the 180 days in Mex per
yr. myth, I'm going with that. It's a myth, get another fmm
after your current one expires. Actually, if one got an fmm
when they were first issued, that is on May 1 2010, and
held on to it, it would have expired on Nov 1 2010, that is
6 mo. later. It is the same program as the fmt's, neither were
intended for mulitiple entries. If the 180 day rule exists, there should be travellers currently being denied entry to Mex because their
fmm issued in May has expired. Anyone heard of that?
I didn't think so. The free 7 day fmm are being isued, the
5 day fishing trips out of San Felipe to the LA Bay area
now require the 7 day fmm's

well when did Amigos de Baja go online? '96 or so?
Read Eidell on Peoples guide to Mex, rv.net.

Eidell researches and posts. A post of his
states what I said, fmm's are Not LIMITED to 1 per
yr. that is a myth, there is no 180 day limit on Tourist days one can
be in Mex per yr. That started out with some misinformation
back in May 2010, regarding Business fmm's.If one goes
goes by your claim of 180 days per yr., imagine this scenario,
a person who has USED UP THEIR 180 days, boards a plane
to Cabo from LA, lands in Los Cabos, is Mex Immigration is
going to deny him entry because his 180 days are up? I think
not. Also states clearly on the fmm, shall be handed to Mex
Immigration upon leaving the country? Doesn't sound like
Multiple Entries to me. But one can keep the form and use it
until it expires

It is a mess and like other rules in Mexico is bound for inforcement depending on interpretation.

The purpose was to put a halt to the non-Mexicans who go to Mexico and lease land/ buy or build homes using a tourist card (FM-T, now FMM)... They want it clear that a tourist is a person on a vacation who stays in hotels or camps, not one who becomes a part time resident of Mexico and leaves his property behind when he goes north for part of the year. That person is supposed to have an FM-3 or higher level of visa or immigration status.

Tourists can not legally leave cars, land, trailers, etc. in Mexico and go back to their country ... That is not a 'tourist'... that is a part time resident of Mexico.

The FMM idea is that when you leave after your 10 day vacation, you turn in the FMM... and the next time you get it, the computer will say you have 170 days available (in the year since getting an FMM)... A max. of 180 days per 365. This would prevent the part-time residents from staying 179 days at their Mexican home, going north for a day or an hour, whatever.. and coming back into Mexico getting another 180 day 'tourist card'.

What isn't done is a sane way to turn in your FMM if you are driving... unless we can still mail it in to the Tijuana address that Discover Baja provided for mailing in the FM-T before it expired. I mean where do you drive to north bound to get to an INM office at the entrance border? Do thety want all the tourists, in motorhomes, towing boats or camping trailers to wind around any Mexican city to get close to where they came into Mexico... park, turn it in, then go and find the end of the border wait line?

Do they now want $23 dollars for every man, woman and child, every trip south, instead of once per 180 days as before?

I see another government disaster that will only keep more people from going to Baja and hurting the area economy...

No, immigration visas (tourist cards) are federal government forms (migra or INM)... A city or state governemnt has nothing to do with them... unless something special is arranged, I suppose?
