Is there an organization that provides relief for baja during hurricane season?

Please tell us who you are in relation to baja relief during hurricane season. What is your interest in this now, during the hurricane off season?

After Hurricane Jimena, which affected a wide portion of BCS, I began a page on my site to coordinate messages and reports about what a whole bunch of groups were doing to help in a number of communities.

It is still available on-line:

It has lots of links to various groups, so check it out, make a note of the sites that might pertain to your area of interest. All of the groups listed are legitimate and have histories of helping across the peninsula or within their specific communities.

Yes, my site is only acting as a clearing house for info and links to the legit organizations; and anyway, there is no way to donate to my site. But thanks for pointing that out.

In various communities, there are resources. Depends on need and timing. Catholic Church collects and distributes clothing. Service clubs have funds for repair and short term needs like food and water. When a nasty one hits an area, both local and international resources seem to pop up. Sorry, can't respond in the abstract, but rest assured that quite a bit of help shows up.

The Mexican government participates in relief efforts and provides hot meals, fresh food, medical care, household furnishings and yes, even money for individuals and businesses.

I need a legit organization that is currently raising funds, or cleaning up Baja from the previous years of hurricanes. My project includes using a member of this organization as a 'mentor' who will explain to me what he/she does as she does it.

I don't really know if you will be able to find a broad-based organization that is still raising funds for hurricane relief and currently working in Baja and has a web site.

I take it that you checked out the link I posted previously, but that none of the organizations fit your needs. If you haven't then you should and contact them directly to find out what they are currently involved with.

The International Community Foundation is an active group that may still have on-going projects in Baja. They usually fund local groups who have a project or specific need.

Commonly many groups involved in disaster relief are emergency responders who only deal with the initial crisis. The govt. and church/charities within the individual communities are usually those who deal (or not) with the on-going problems. But these are unlikely to have websites.

Rotary and Lions Clubs and other social groups within individual communities are also likely to be involved in specific local projects.
