Playa Naranjo and Playa Coyote

castaway$ - 11-13-2010 at 11:15 AM

Our annual trip is on and we have a month, we want to spend some time in Mulelge and a while back I posted about places to camp and these 2 look like what I'm after.
Does anyone know the costs for camping in either of these spots, not real monied up this year so were trying to ballpark our vacation costs B4 we leave.;D

For camping... Playa Coyote for sure! Pick a nice spot next to a small palapa right on the water. Great place to camp and one of our favorite places to camp. Tamale lady usually shows up in the mornings. $8 in 2007

The coves & beaches in Concepcion are the most beautiful. Pompano wrote regarding launching places for your boat; there are a few. You could also set up camp and bring your boat right up to moor in front, right guys?! Naranjo is not as pretty, imo. Do a search for photos and articles. The pics will help you decide. It's all good! Tio

The other side...

No big rigs. A good bet if the more popular places are crowded.

The only reason I got this sunrise photo at La Perla is because a PRE-DAWN fisherman arrived by car with his umpa-umpa (Norteño?) music cranked up to wake the dead as he drove by our palapa and then left it playing up at the hut for the next hour + as he prepped his boat/ gear.:rolleyes::wow:

We stayed at La Perla because El Requeson just north, was full...

When I am at Playa Coyote, I launch my boat right where the photo was taken or even a few meters south. Need 4 wheel drive tho. The Jake Brakes are loud, but if you have had a good active day, you sleep right thru it.

Hi Vince...guess you are like me, then. I've been sleeping there for what..? almost 40 years now..and can only vaguely remember the old cow-catcher trucks with NO mufflers at all.

Now, THERE was some noise!!

Jake brakes? NAH.. Never heard those even once....dunno why...??

just as an aside as we are NOT near coyote or sea of cortez BUT camping is free here in La Bocana....there is the launching area where the fishermen wake you up early or there is the quiet and remote La Bocanita.

Gas up in Vizcaino. Take Abreojos exit. One hour. Follow salt flats at end of Calle Dominguez for 10 miles til you hit La Bocana. Ask for Blanca and Les OR ask for Joaquin OR really, talk to anyone and they will show you where to camp.

El Coyote has some great, year after year campers. Pot-Luck meals Christmas and New Years. Very friendly and social beach to stay at. Jake brakes seem soothing, and can be an alarm clock if needed to head out hiking in the morning.

Usually we would stay at Orchards but that was stopped after hurricane John then Maria Isabella had t olisten to the jake brakes both places so were sorta immune to the noise which is overwhelmed by the peacfullenss of baja.
