Taxi from La Paz to La Ventana?

TomH - 11-15-2010 at 09:45 AM

Does anyone know what it would cost for a Taxi from the La Paz airport to La Ventana? I'm going to visit some friends there after Christmas and really don't need to rent a car.
Thanks in advance

I wish I knew the answer to your question. I was there 2 days ago and its about a 30 min drive. La Ventana is beautiful.

You sound like you know what you are doing. I had a very rude awakening this week renting a car for the first time in SJD.

AVOID RENTING CARS! READ THE FINE PRINT ASK LOTS OF QUESTIONS. TAKE A TAXI/ BUS/ SHUTTLE!!!!!!!

Probably to prevent the taxi wars that erupted in Los Cabos, the taxis at LAP are very controlled. (You can't just walk out the front door of the airport anymore and just grab one). Go to the rental car counter and you will see where you buy your ticket for a taxis. They have several options posted such as taxi, collective bus etc. My place is only about 10 minutes from the airport but I still had to pay the standard rate for a taxis of 300 pesos ($28). I have no idea what the fare to La Ventana might be or if they have a bus that might take you direct.

There is a bus that goes daily from el centro La Paz to La Ventana/El Sargento. Cost 40 pesos.

It leaves La Paz from the corner of Nicholas Bravo and Guillermo Prieto across from the Mercado Bravo at 2pm every day (perhaps not on Sunday). And it returns in the morning , you can ask the bus driver for his schedule and phone number.

The driver's name/number was Victor - 114 0266 write down this info, the corner, schedule and phone number and go early to the bus stop since you might get lost, it makes sense to visit mercado bravo before and bring a bag of fresh fruit. There is a taco stand at the bus stop and you can ask them if you are in the right spot, generally the bus is sitting there hours in advance as he parks it there all day until he leaves. It says El Sargento on the front.

The bus is half size and green I think. You can ask around el centro and most people will tell where it is, since there are so few street signs and so many buses.

You can also ask to be dropped off where ever you like, and you might even learn to pick up the bus en route from other spots or have him come by your place once you get to know him.
