Hi Mike, the Weatherman link is on the RaceDezert.com site (linked above)... However, my PC didn't want to stay connected to it... not sure what the issue was this morning.

However, there is a live camera with sound at the start line... quads are starting now: http://www.baja1k.com/

Hi George, I clicked on 'Bikes and Quads' on the map and all the ones with trackers lit up. Not sure if any are Class 22, but they are on the race course heading to Ojos Negros right now.

David K - 11-18-2010 at 08:30 AM

Now the long wait for thr first Trophy Truck start at ~11:30 am. All the bikes and quads are on the race course for La Paz.

ArvadaGeorge - 11-18-2010 at 08:46 AM

That means you can track very few of the M/C's. I have not tried to track them in previous years. Is this new? does the device weigh much? cost much?

Bill Nichole's team is # 619x with a tracker

David K - 11-18-2010 at 08:55 AM

It seems that there are selected racers with trackers transmitting their location for the live map... ? Josh (Baja Angel's son) is pitting for Gary Weyhrich (Trophy Truck #9) and two others at Race Mile 223, south of San Felipe.

Wish we were there!

David K - 11-18-2010 at 10:20 AM

First Trophy Truck to start at 11:22 am.

Live feed video re-showing the m/c starts until then...

capt. mike - 11-18-2010 at 11:35 AM

hoping to get BFG Wild Bill link. so far nada.

David K - 11-18-2010 at 04:19 PM

At 3:19 pm, the Trophy trucks are stretched between San Matias Pass and Matomi Wash crossing... centered on San Felipe.

David K - 11-18-2010 at 08:46 PM

Okay one more update from me for now... The Trophy Trucks are heading into L.A. Bay and the Class 1 race cars are heading into Calamajue Canyon... this is from the tracking map link at 7:41 pm.

Our son's team truck #9 Gary Weyhrich (TSCO) has moved up to about 4th position from 6th at Puertecitos. Gary is passing Desengaño mine now.

Hasta tarde!

Thanks Paulina... do you (or any Nomad) have a good link to the Weatherman Radio (Bob Steinberger)? The one I found does not want to stay on my pc... causes it to crash like a virus.

David K - 11-18-2010 at 11:49 PM

Okay... just checked the maps (north and south now)... The Trophy Trucks are between San Ignacio and La Purisima... the fastest has just passed San Juanico (Scorpion Bay), and our son's pit Team TSCO #9 is in SECOND PLACE south of San Ignacio Lagoon area... his speed was 96 mph.

The Trophy Trucks have caught up to the motorcycles who are also in the San Juanico area.

Looking at the slowest class Class 11 (pure stock VW beetles), the leader is in Calamajue Canyon and the others are between there and San Felipe.

This is about 10:45 pm.

capt. mike - 11-19-2010 at 06:11 AM

less than 100 miles to go, the best coverage by far is on dirtnewz.com

capt. mike - 11-19-2010 at 06:25 AM

looks like Tavo Vildosola Jr may win TT 21.

Baja&Back - 11-19-2010 at 08:29 AM

trophy truck 21 Vildosola finishes first at 6:29:41
Robbie Gordon second @ 6:56 AM

Weatherman is at http://www.race-dezert.com/home/baja-1000-2010-2

Realtime tracking race map is at http://vulcain.iritrack.net/irc/eviewer/baja1000/

VIVA MEXICO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'LL BE WEARING MY VILDOSOLA SHIRT ALL DAY!
MAYBE EVEN SOME PANTS.
Proud moment for Mexico, we just won the super bowl of Baja California!

6:58 DIRTnewz: 19:00:04 is the elapsed time of Tavo and Gus Vildolsola which will give them not only the SCORE Trophy Truck WIN but the Overall 4 wheel vehicle win as well!!!

Average speed 55.8 mph faster than 2006 when Andy McMillin and Robby Gordon won this race

6:55 DIRTnewz: still no signs of Robby Gordon who is running in second here from the finish. Team Vildolsola are the first Mexican National team to claim the Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 WIN!!!

TheColoradoDude - 11-19-2010 at 08:57 AM

Cool coverage! How come it's not called the Baja 1853?

David K - 11-19-2010 at 11:38 AM

The top racers, class, time:

1. Gustavo Vildolsola Jr - SCORE Trophy Truck - 19:00:04
2. Kendall Norman -Class 22 - 19:20:52
3. Robby Gordon - SCORE Trophy Truck 19:22:22

Our guy Gary came in 5th in class and 6th overall. The top racers were Trophy Trucks and bikes.

Class 22 is over 250cc m/c. Class 40 is m/c with 40+ y/o rider. Class 21 is the 250cc m/c class.

rts551 - 11-19-2010 at 04:20 PM

Was a good race.too bad you could not watch it outside of the computer

capt. mike - 11-20-2010 at 08:19 AM

really missed not being able to hear race relay 12 live. Why BFG changed that, i dunno.

dirtnewz again had the best coverage bar none.

Mike, I had Weatherman audio, and three computers fired up with split screens: Nomad/RDC/BFG/DirtNewz on two and IRC tracking on the third. Crazy!

Allen R

PS You know we have a nice little regional airport just a few miles west of us.

shari - 11-20-2010 at 08:30 AM

We made an emergency trip to Sta.Rosalia thursday evening and it was so cool being in the middle of the race...not much traffic because everybody was set up in their pits...which were really neat to see all along the highway between Vizcaino & San Ignacio...BIG PARTY!!! Then again in the race on the way home yesterday with all the broke down trucks limping around into pits.

I can tell ya, all the mexicanos are VERY happy with the winner!!!! We tried to find a mechanic open to change shocks and they were all closed or real hungover!!!
