I happen to know that Lalo and his lovely artist wife are looking for a casa to rent...(an affordable..IE: CHEAP one) in the mulege area...anybody need some housesitters out there???...they are a fun couple!!!

check Craigslist..I think I saw one advertised up in Loma Azul. Nice quiet area..some with great views.

can anyone give a description and a rating of the rooms and food at las casitas ? the kitchen photo looks great with commercial refrigeration !

My wife and i liked it --we went back. The food & rooms are real nice for a Mexican hotel--it's not a 5 star gringo place--that is what we liked about it.
Great M/C parking too.

You're going to like staying at the Las Casitas. Xavier, the owner & host, will see to it. He's one the Good Guys. I've known him since his Serinadad front office days in the early 70's. A hard-worker and he shows some class in decorations for his cafe and food presentations. Also his entertainment is a cut above the average..with my favorites being classical flamenco players from the mainland...real pros.



Location...location...location. Yup, got those three ideals down, too. Downtown in the heart of the city. Walk down the street to the famous Saturday carnitas. Now those are a must-do.

Hola pompano, on my way north on october 14, el morro was overbooked and they called las casitas for me but it was full. i was told LAS CASITAS only has 5 rooms.

el morro had a cutoff time of 8 p.m. and if nobody showed for their reservations, they gave them out..first come, first served. i was first in line. on a scale of 1 - 10, i give el morro a SIX. shower was terrible with no water pressure and the shower didn't drain !

where is las casitas located as i am unfamiliar with the town and is the parking secure as i am pulling a 5' x 8' utility trailer ?

You might give Cuesta Real a try next time. As for number of rooms, Serenidad has the most in the area.

Just drive into town past the Pemex, continue straight ahead another block..look to the right and there it is next to a little square. It's a very small town..you will have no problems. Ask Xavier about secure parking if needed.

Hope that helps. I know all the hotel and motel owners..they are good friends. Check them out one by one if you like. It's all good in Mulege. If full in the entire area, send me a line and I'll put you up with a free room for the night.

Clean, simple rooms. Good dining. Street parking. I am glad they're back in business after the last flood. I always come back with interesting glassware from his shop.

Las Casitas has been a reliable place for many years, for the most part. We used to stay there in the '60's when Kuka owned it. She was a wonderful lady who lived in Mulege a long time after she retired.

I remember her well, Vince..and Jorge Yee after her. We had some times back in those days!

Lots of action in Las Casitas with Jorge..checked your pistolas at the bar, rifles were okay if shoulder slung. :rolleyes:
