¿remote tienda locations?

chrisx - 11-28-2010 at 03:03 PM

tiendas in out of the way villages? It´s hard to tell from my national geographic map if there are ways to resupply on some back roads. For example, I´m thinking of riding my mountain bike south from Bahia de los Angles, but don´t know if any of the villages have a store?

Is there a resource for knowing where stores are located?

People have to eat. Just ask. This is how it was done in the old days.

most remote villages have a little store but you may not recognize it...it might be in someone's house for example...so asking works great...after of course you say buenos tardes, como esta, que bonito lugar...etc etc...then get around to the question...sometimes if there is no restaurant, people will cook for you in their casa too...so you can ask for that too.

I think a bike trip down either coast would be cool - there are rideable roads for most of it - w/ a few portages and hike - a bike through sandy sections - has it been done?

remote village shopping and biking down Baja

and the question to ask is:

donde se encuentra la tienda de consumo !! to find the local mini market.

Ohhh don't get everyone started on biking down the peninsula - it will be a thread of a thousand pages of yays and nays, ying and yang, pros and cons of attempting such a feat :o

Haha - right you are - getting food (and water) in remote spots will be an adventure. There might be some supplies - small stores .. You could run into gringo campers who will share food and beverages . poor locals are generous . take fishing gear . read Graham's book.

There are not many people south of Bahia de los Angeles... the few there live off the sea or their ranchos (farms/ cattle).

South from Bahia de loa Angeles the first 'villages' you come too that may have a small store are at El Barril, El Arco, Guillermo Prieto... However, the first 'real' towns with typical stores and services will be Vizcaino, San Ignacio, Santa Rosalia.
