Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, my PC got fried earlier and I haven't been able to post until now. That was Nigel Rickards (not Richard) you
were asking about. We were classmates at U. of the Americas in the D.F. in the early 60's and later neighbors on the Central Coast in the 70's.
Sadly, Nigel is no longer with us. Heart attack a couple of years ago. I haven't spoken with Maria lately but I believe she still lives on Holden
Ave. in Oceano and probably visits Ensenada now and then where her relatives take care of the house on the hill. If I can find the address or phone

BTW, the general that Nigel bought the house from was the same one who gave the order to fire on the students at Tlatelolco in '68. He's "retired"
alright. Somebody shot the bastard several years ago. Probably nothing to do with '68, more likely "un ajuste de cuentas" over a drug deal.
I miss Nigel greatly. He was intelligent, urbane, gregarious and financially tight as a drum. He hardly ever drank although advised to for his
heart. He was hospitable and liked to party but absolutely refused to ever buy ice, paying money for "frozen water" was against his principles. He
was one of few U. of A. alums who actually graduated but never used his degree to get a corporate type job. He inherited a bit from his American
mother (his father was Brit) which he was very careful with and,except for a time when he worked with the Magliiozzi brothers of NPR's "Car Talk", he
earned a living as a shade tree mechanic, working on cars in his yard.

Thanks for the info. We only lived in Baja for a couple of years but became close friends with Nigel and Maria. They came to our home in Punta Banda
several times etc. We were younger ie I was born in 1946 and Patty was born in 1947 and Nigel and Maria treated us as their children. I remember Maria
telling my wife to wear a dress on long trips so if she had to go to the bathroom she could just get out of the car and squat behind an open car door.
Nigel cautioned me against putting new tires on the motorhome because it would look like we had money. When our Christmas cards were returned we tried
to call their home in Ensenada but the number had been disconnected. We never had their address or phone number in California. We would love to
establish contact with Maria so if you find any info we would appreciate your forwarding it to us. The range of the BajaNomad membership is amazing.
