I live in Vicente Guerrero just north of San Quintin.
My husband went up to Ensenada yesterday at 10:00 a.m. did Dr. and shopping and was home by 9;30 road was fine he said.
Just go for it Baja is an adventure enjoy the ride.

What's the problem? I did Cabo and back a few weeks ago. As has been noted by others, unless it's raining, the construction detours are really not a
problem. Go, already!

it had been raining when we went and the pop up trailer got a good amount of baja christening over that stretch.
if gilandval are worried about that part of the road, maybe baja isn't the best place for them.....
or maybe that is where the wheat gets separated from the chaff.

Mex 1 ALWAYS will provide you with some kind of excitement. Even if the
road were in perfect condition . There are many curves going up and down the mountain ranges between the various valleys that have very sharp
and sudden tightly radius turns. Not all the turns are banked properly.
Driven at a moderate speed they present no major problem. It is when
people try to pass without regard for their safety or that of others that
things can get bad quick. Anytime that there is a curve sign, beware.
Signs cost money and believe me they don't put them up for nothing.
Carefull around the El Tomatal area. When the highway first opened up there was alot of fatalities around there. Try not to drive at night for
very long. Also the long staight aways can lull you into driving too fast.
Alot of these straight aways are elevated from the surrounding "shoulders
which are down slope from the road. If you should get a flat and loose
controll you can very easily roll off the road. Other than that don't be in a hurry and have a good time.
