La Paz RV Park recommedations, anyone?

Pompano - 12-4-2010 at 07:58 AM

Calling all RVers.

An amigo needs to find an RV park in La Paz that offers wi-fi Internet throughout the park..meaning to his RV..not going inside a cafe or office.

Also some English television stations: news, etc...or a camp cable/satellite hookup for lots more?

Muchas Gracias in advance, Pompano.

To the best of my knowledge there is only one RV park left in La Paz - never been to it.

It is called Maranatha, NW of La Paz in Chemetla (turn by the Exquisito coffee shop).

Many thanks, rob.

I remember that park from another Nomad..fixtrauma. We all stayed there a couple years ago while my guest and I were enroute to Cabo airport.

As I recall, you must be physically inside or on the veranda of that internet cafe next door..the Exquisito?..to get wi-fi. Okay, but not inside the RV as requested. I think my friend has lots of computer work to get done and wants the convenience of his RV.

Hopefully, some other method at Maranatha.. or another location.. will work for mi amigos.

You might want to call them at 612 1241746. The proprietor- Joseph - is a nice young man wha has his hands in providing internet service to lots of folks who don't have land lines in the Centenario and Comitan area. So I guess it's possible that the signal is more than just at the coffee shop. Norm

consider getting a wi-fi booster antennae. It works great for our home. If it can get a bar or 2, that's all it needs.

I parked out by the road near Exquisito and could get 2 bars easy. With a booster, in the park, probably no problem.

Very helpful information, rob, capitolcat and BajaNuts,

I'll call Campestre Maranantha today. I didn't know it was a Christian camp, but so much the better. I'll be sure to take some photos and post a report on my RV forum and here.

I'll also stop by a computer store I recall in Loreto to see about buying a booster for my wi-fi connection. I hope that store is still open, but if not I imagine there are at least 1 or 2 such stores in La Paz

Gracias, amigos.

Pomp & Circumstance.....I just called Josef at Exquisito. The campground area behind the coffee shop does have it's own wi-fi, separate from the coffee shop system. It does reach the entire camp ground. There's a charge for using it, but Josef was not sure how much his Mom charges per day/week/month. If memory serves me correctly, I seem to recall that Iflyfish said it was $10 a week....but that had to have been at least 2 weeks ago!

K'....when are you coming? You're not going to try to sneak into town like a thief in the dark are you?? I know at least one Nomad who'd like to meet you in person...IF of course, there are any La Paz Nomads you'd like to meet!

Great Information, LongLegs! Grazie, grazie..

Pomp & Circumstance...love it.....can I borrow some? I could use a little of each for my life recipe.

Hey now, I promise not to sneak around too much while in the metropolis of La Paz. And I'll be easy to spot...I'm gonna be the one with the horns.

Oh for joy!! Just how I enjoy spending my time....running all around town looking for a tall, slightly less fat, horned old guy with the remains of illegal baked beans on is shirt front!:no:

Drove by the Maranatha yesterday. Looked good. Was also recommended by folks we are camped next to today. Said they let you wash your RV there and that it is indeed the last RV park there. East to find, looks like back-in stalls.

BTW, Pompano...your driving tips helped, especially for Invierno.:wow::o:O:O

Endeavor to percevere, Longlegs...and keep a weather eye out.

For better or worse...times have changed....shrunk an inch, a lot older, 45 lbs lighter, dehorned by a bella Italian, and still spill food all over my shirts....sigh. Bring some Bounty and Shout-it-Out, okay?

p.s. Hola windgrrl...thanks for the heads up and recommendation. Sounds like a winner. Ciao

p.s. edit for longlegsinlapaz below...above pic taken Nov, 2010..svelt?, no..but thanks, it wasn't easy. Good idea on the patterned shirts, I'll mention it. ;)

'K....so now I'm supposed to be looking for a shorter, lighter-weight, de-horned older fart with half of his last days' meals worn on his chest as some kinda badge of pride?? You do realize that's over half of the gringo population of La Paz, doncha?? Oh never mind! I'll recognize your RV!

If that's a recent pic, you've done good! You're looking positively svelte!

Ahem.....do I L:o:oK like a laundress to you??

But it appears that co-pilot has got you figured out, I'm predicting there will be a lot more bright multi-patterned shirts in your future, Pigpen!:biggrin:
