Why the anger directed at David K?

I'm fairly new here, only have a dozen or so trips to Baja under my belt. I want to know why some Nomads are so angry with David?

Have you met him? Did he personally do something?

To anyone's knowledge, has an angry discussion ever turned physically violent in real life? Or is the Internet pen mightier than the sword?

I personally like the back and forth disagreements in opinions in some of the topics, but to take it to a personal level is very odd.

There are many answers to your Question.

David is a very good lover of Baja and has been for many years. His efforts at finging information on the Lost Missions are many.
He seems to be knowledge and somewhat conservative and Factual.

You will find that when this Board started it was a lot about Baja. Now it has developed into a "personality Battleground" which resembles our present day Culture in the States.
There are many who come on the board that have never been to Baja yet claim knowledge of it, and it is obvious that they have gooten their Less that factual Knowlegde from Spam on the Net or some Liberal College Proff. that has never been to Baja but Bull Puckies his Students to beleive that he Knows of what he Speaks.
Happens with the Sea of Cortez Bull Puckey by some of the Envior Nuts.

So I personally know David and let me say he a is a Great guy and works hard at Helping People underatand and Love Baja. So relax and enjoy and forget about a lot of the Bull Puckey aganist David.

I know he likes to correct spelling, and point out mistakes, and may even be incorrect sometimes. But what exactly is it that rubs some so badly it turns personal?

How about the fact that he injects US politics into threads that have nothing to do about same? There's an off topic section here that is wild and woolly. That's the place for such comments.

Since he is obviously of right wing persuasion ( I heard from a source that he modified his TV so that it only receives Fox News and ditto his radio re: Rush Limbaugh), it automatically triggers a response from those who are not. Again, fine in off topic. But making glib comments about current administration policy on a thread that's about traveling Baja just opens him up to attack. That said, on some level, I believe he enjoys it.

Your question seems to be a troll. An invitation for the pro David and anti David to go against one another.

Most of the people who aren't David admirers have a high post count and have been around a long time. Conversely, newbies are almost always very positive about the man. With time and lots of posts you will come to your own conclusions.

Breaking down anyone's pros and cons publicly is in bad taste and unfair to the individual. Especially the cons. So don't expect an answer to your question.

You have a good point, I didn't mean to start a pro David post.

I really want to know what happened to make people so mad as to personally attack him (with words that is).

Some people just rub others the wrong way especially if they are corrected or disagreed with. You will have to form your own opinion over time. It's a love/hate relationship on here most of the time. FYI, I'm one of the Nomads that likes DK and I like many that don't like him. As Mr. King said "can't we all just get along", that was Rodney of course after the cops were finished.

Seems to be a jealousy thing with those who would hope to consider themselves on a par with DK on Baja general knowledge. To his credit, he always welcomes newcomers and is generous with his encyclopedic knowledge of Baja. His maps and information have helped many.
As for his politics- I think I'll send him some of my "Spay and Neuter Liberals" bumper stickers. :tumble:

Scolding and disagreeing are very different.

In one case you are saying you think otherwise. In the 2nd you are telling the person in no uncertain terms that they are wrong. It puts you in a position of power and the other that of a child. It's usuallly learned very early in life when the scolder him/herself was put continuously in a the defensive position. Now as an adult it's their turn to be in charge.

But most of the time it's a social gathering that offers information many aspects of the Baja life. I don't think anyone in here really hates a fellow BN.....they just disagree at a whisper or a loud bang...at times.

DavidK helps me out a lot. Sometimes he will read my posts ahead of everyone....sees that I got a bit too "yankeeirshman"...and U2 me....***advising***to cool down a bit. I appreciate that a lot.

He helps with his vast knowledge of Baja too here at the BN. Hell...we all even found a secret beach thanks to him

Some dont like Mr. Spell Checker (DK) and I hope not beyond this format. In real life...he must be a swell guy judging from all the past stories of his. Fact is...I hope NONE of us take a disliking to any BN in real life :coolup:

The Good, The Bad & Ugly can and does get posted on Bajanomad, however one does not need to put all their effort into attacking someone else. Thus, we can agree to disagree and go from there in our communications on topics here.

I don't want to waste my time hating or being angry at anyone on this site and thus I do not allow myself to do so. We all have had very different opinions and strong convictions on politics. That is why politics gets people angry,hurt,emotional and in some cases harmed. That is why when it comes to politics, I have adopted the stance of "Frankly, My Dear I Do Not Give A Damn," LOL

Would rather go to things in Baja and meet you in a friendly environment to have a discussion, pop or pour a cold one for a better time to really enjoy the Baja and Mexico experiences that most of us have had. We all have a special story, funny happening or just a quest for an adventure we hope others may share or know about. I too have met David several times and have not had any problems or complaints.
