Best forum for posting Google Earth KMZ files?

Download / Save issue resolved
Or perhaps a new forum for GE users that want to share their Baja KML creations, placemarks & routes? I know, there is an interactive map.

Here are two examples:

(1) Right click on each link to SAVE to your own computer (as a TXT file). (2) Rename the file from TXT to KML (sorry about the extra step; this is my work-around solution). (3) Then, on your computer, open the KML file (double click OR open with Google Earth).

Military Checkpoints File size should be 12.50 Kb ..... Pemex Gas Stations File size should be 15.33 Kb

You should get a message to open with Google Earth. Each file is expandable so you can zoom to and around individual locations.

Download / Open problem resolved

bryanmckenzie - 12-10-2010 at 03:17 PM

My tech support disavows any knowledge of or responsibility for the downloading problem or that it is their "download" responsibility, even though I tested 5 KMZ/KML files with 3 browsers across 3 different domains names that I own. Ugh!

Even though the problem remains, see work-around above that I came up with. Sorry for the extra step, but it does work!

I'm leaving this post up just in case I need to revisit this and show tech support or in case someone else runs into a similar Keyhole/Google Earth problem.

By FTP I can see that both files are correct. I'm working on a solution. Does anyone have any ideas why downloading a KMZ or KML becomes corrupt on the way to a users machine???.

Screen capture using MS IE. I never use MS IE. But Firefox & Chrome don't work either and I've removed all the blocking items from the websites & directories. All types of links to JPG, PDF work fine. Just not KML or KMZ. These are my own server. I'm going to try posting at GE BBS & link to that instead.
