We will be staying a week in the area of Rosarito Beach. We have been there many times however I have yet to find a mercado that sells fresh seafood.
I have been to Popotla but it is too much of a hassle parking. Does anyone know where you can buy fresh fresh, clams, or maybe even abalone in the

We actually get alot of our fish at the big Commercial Mexicana-if you are into clams, ask for them to fetch some from the back

Yes Popotla-but it is hell to park there and several of our neighbors here have had issues down there with robberies-kind of a scary spot-also where

really? You'd think if there was crime in Rosarito against tourists we would hear about it. I'm pretty sure those customized smuggling pangas launch
in the dark hours too.
OK... There is a small but good seafood market directly across the street from the Rosarito Beach Hotel attached to the bus depot.
Vincent's market is fine if you want to pay retail. Same with the giant new Commercial store on the east side of the toll road at the "McDonalds"
exit.
Even with those options your best bet for freshness and price is still Popotla. I even ride my dirtbike right down onto the beach and buy clams, fish
and abalone directly off the boats. You really don't have to park- just drive onto the beach like all the locals do. Yes, the access road is dusty
and the menu-hawkers a royal PIA. They do have a security guard who watches the cars parked on the dirt road now.

Popotla has the freshest fish. Just past Fox Studios, turn west and go thru the arch. Park on the road and walk in. Buy directly from the
fishermen out of the bottom of the panga. It doesn't get any fresher.
You never know what you'll find. I've bought halibut, ocean white fish, yellowtail, red snapper, rockcod, white sea bass, crabs, oysters, squid,
pargo, pacific cod, shark, and sea urchins . If it lives in the ocean you will eventually see it at Popotla. Use common sense. Look carefully at
you fish. It should have clear eyes.
Never had any problems.
Reminds me of what the Viejo Oeste must have been like.
