What a beautiful home. Why did you sell it?vandenberg - 12-15-2010 at 11:33 AM
Italy bound, Roger ??
Yet ANOTHER non-rental inquiry
longlegsinlapaz - 12-15-2010 at 01:19 PM
OMG....this is kinda like the end of an era....or something!
Not sure whether to be sad or happy for you! I guess if you're happy, then I'm
happy for you!Pompano - 12-15-2010 at 01:40 PM
Thanks LongLegs,
Yes, I am mucho feliz! But it's not like I'm leaving Baja anytime soon! Plus, I may be posting a lot from a slightly different body of water, too.
Think Hannibal Banks. tripledigitken - 12-15-2010 at 01:46 PM
Good for you Roger selling your Casa. It won't be the same with posts coming from the other side.
Looking at the glass half full, we will get sunset shots now!!!

I am thinking he is getting ready to open that bikini bar in BA...
LancairDriver - 12-15-2010 at 07:30 PM
Pompano, wish you well with your future plans. It has been a real pleasure reading your posts and viewing your outstanding pictures. Many of us see
your 40 year Baja and "up north" lifestyle as the ultimate. Look forward to seeing the next chapter.makana.gabriel - 12-15-2010 at 09:30 PM
What a SPECIAL place you have!! Can't tell you how much I have enjoyed your sunrise postings. But change is also wonderful and know you will treat
us in the future with your new finds!BajaDanD - 12-15-2010 at 09:46 PM
Vary nice place
How much is the rent per Day/week/month
Morning coffee replies....
Pompano - 12-16-2010 at 05:05 AM
Ken...thanks, now I don't have to mop any more floors, pick up empties, etc. And I will still be around to post more sunrises from the Bay, but some will definetely be sunsets from the other
side.
Thone...good name, can I ask the origin? German, no? I once knew a Thone family. And yes, you are correct, Panama NW corner islands and superb
fishing off the Hannibal Banks. Beautiful water. Been there enough to know it's like Baja in the Golden Years.
soulpatch...you betcha! The Coiba islands and beaches are awesome. The fishing? Well..you got to see it for yourself.
Baja Gringo...GREAT IDEA! Thanks, I am making plans now. Let's see now... a bikini is like that little skimpy thing that Juan wears, right? I'll
see if he has the time to join up.
LancairDriver....muchas gracias, amigo. Now that I have some time off, I can get started on a writing project that has been waiting in the
wings for many years. I have to make sure I have all your names spelled right to go with the photos, of course. And I kinda think there
will be even more Baja adventures ahead.
makana.gabriel...thanks, it is a special place for me..lotsa memories in that old casa..and especially those sunrises. Don't worry, I'm a hopeless
shutterbug and will try my best to clog up the forum in the future with my finds.
BajaDanD...at this stage the daily rate is set at $200 based on 4 people. There will be a discount on a monthly rate. I'll confer with mi amigo over
a nice glass of Red Truck and confirm this later.

OMG... this news blew me away! I can't believe it. What a beautiful place you have/had... whatever. Anyway, I'm really looking forward to your next
location and even more photos as you move on to new adventures!!DianaT - 12-16-2010 at 12:50 PM
Best of luck with your new endeavors----we always believe that change is good---a chance for new great experiences. I know we have considered
another change---and may very well do it.
The home and location are beautiful and should have no problem renting---best of luck to your friend.

Where did the pictures go?Skipjack Joe - 12-16-2010 at 09:32 PM
I will surely miss you, Roger.
Perhaps you should stay. Forty years in baja. Your roots are real deep here. I don't know. It's a big move. Sometimes you just need to hold on to the
good things in life. You fell in love with this land years ago and the love is still there.
On the other hand there are lots of reasons to leave. Baja isn't how it once was and will never be. So look for places that are now like baja was
then.
It must be a hard decision. But the good thing is that both choices are great (it's a win-win situation for you).woody with a view - 12-16-2010 at 10:07 PM
what he said ^^^^^^^^^^
if it feels good, do it! BTW, the co-pilot deserves to call the shots for a few....
Suerte Compa!capt. mike - 12-17-2010 at 06:23 AM
sections of the coconut coast south of yucatan and quintana roo north of Guatamala that have not been fully developed, many off grid communities.
several of my flying friends did a 6 plane group flight there 3 years ago and stayed at a really nice boutique resort, - cheap, primitive, off grid.
would be a killer place to have a beach home.monoloco - 12-17-2010 at 07:56 AM

I fished those
banks last year, by far the best fishing I've ever seen. Absolutely beautiful place, but watch out for the crocodiles and bull sharks.Nan&D - 12-17-2010 at 10:01 AM
We had the great pleasure of staying there last year. I recommend it to anyone, although without Pompano there it won't be as much fun! Thanks again
for the welcome...oladulce - 12-17-2010 at 10:04 AM
We just spent 3 days driving back to BCS from CA without internet - What the heck happened??? There's no trace of whatever started this
thread.
Is the world topsy turvy?

No, I check in here every day and it is a mystery to me as well!!Where IS the beginning of this thread??vandenberg - 12-17-2010 at 03:50 PM
Pompano sold his Conception Bay abode to a buddy and ,since the guy wasn't familiar with the in and outs of our complicated system, did him a favor
and offered it for rent.
It was accomplished with lots of pics, but for some reason he decided to delete the original post.
Pompano, I think an explanation is in orderirenemm - 12-17-2010 at 05:30 PM
Pompano

Since Pompano is on the road, we'll have to talk amongst ourselves.
I've heard hushed voices speak of Islas Coiba (where someone said Pompano may be going) and I can't imagine there are any waves there...
Supposed to be a gorgeous place. Buena Suerte on your new adventure Pompano.bajamedic - 12-17-2010 at 09:37 PM
After reading Pompanos post this morning, I was saddened by the thought of him leaving a home that many of us could only dream about. Rogers posts
had become part of my morning routine, the photos from behind the arch on his porch, sunrise, the killer views around his “hood”, Co-pilot (he-he),
photos of his travels and adventures, parties on the patio, travels in the motorhome, well you get my direction. I thought that so many of his
photo/stories had kept my dream alive. But I have concluded that someday I too can do these things and post photos and tell a “stretched story of my
adventures”. After some time through the day thinking about his new adventure, I finally concluded that, I salute you and I look forward to further
inspiration from your next adventure. JH
I have a question???
estebanis - 12-17-2010 at 09:47 PM
How is the road to Panama as far as driving the RV?
Estebanwsdunc - 12-18-2010 at 10:31 AM
Pompano, you have become one of the Nomads posters that I look forward to reading. Pictures of Copilot caught my attention originally, but the
general quality of the photos and the tongue in cheek writing in addition to the general feeling of adventure is what kept me coming back. Good luck
on your transition, hopefully you will keep the Nomads updated. Thee's a lot I'd like to know about Panama.BillP - 12-29-2010 at 04:28 PM

Ditto what he said!
Pompano, It was a link I followed to your story about "Springbok" that brought me here. Please come back and visit, I'm sure your stories about Panama
trials and tribulations will be equally entertaining as your Baja stories.willyAirstream - 12-29-2010 at 07:04 PM
Anyone heard from Pompano? Expecting some pics of Italian dishes! (intended)Cypress - 12-30-2010 at 01:57 PM
The Louisiana/Mississippi marsh country is hard to beat for fishing, plenty of shrimp, oysters, crabs and crawfish on the side. But I'm sorta
prejudiced, it's were I was raised.BajaBlanca - 12-30-2010 at 10:02 PM
