We headed out to the desert in hopes of seeing some rain out there. After a stop at Dudley's Bakery for some Jalapeno Baja Bread we headed to Warner
Springs. It was misty in the Mtns. and socked in. With it being a warm front it was only about 4 degrees cooler (50 degrees)than at the coast. As
we drove through Ranchito approaching Montezuma Grade leading into Borrego Springs the sky was blue to the east. 74 degrees and light winds made for
nice conditions to take in a hike. We took a side trip to Font's Point to gaze at the front coming in over the Mtn's.
After a 2 hour hike we came back through Julian and stopped for apple pie at Mom's pie shop. Actually Paula had Bumble-berry pie and I had the
Apple/Cherry with some coffee. Nice!
Back home the rain gauge showed we had missed a 1/2" of rain.

Your fantastic picture reminds me of why we spend a month every spring in Borrego Springs---------Anza-Borrego is such a jewel!!!

Thanks for posting that. Believe it or not but we saw a Coyote driving out from there yesterday that looked exactly like that guy. Black points,
kind of unusual coloring. He stood 50 yards away from us as we stopped to look at him. I had that dilemma which photographers have of staying in the
moment or picking up the camera.............I stayed in the moment until the guy headed off to the east. Neat.

Ken-- Next time you`re at Dudley`s, look for my geocache!! This one is in a series along the 78, from the Salton Sea to Oceanside, (although this one
is on the 79!).
The very first GeoCache in Baja was placed by Tim Walker... and I was the very first GeoCacher to find it and log in! That was in July, 2001... south
of Gonzaga Bay.
I hid three in Baja that year, and one is still active!! A few miles off the road to L.A. Bay... Haven't GeoCached since my kids grew up... but it was
fun for all of us to play the hide and seek game together! My other Geocaches are in Vista and a virtual cache is in Anza Borrego at the end of the

Reference Fonts Point----------
Be aware that the "road" up the wash leading to Fonts Point can be a challenge (deep sand) especially if there has been no rain lately. I have pulled
many a 2-wheel drive veh. out of the sand over the many years we have been going there. This is especially true in Summer when the sand has little
moisture in it and is tough even on a 4x4.
On the plus side, the place is so popular that you can almost always depend on somebody coming along and rescueing you during the winter
months----summer months not so much.
Sunrise and Sunset is the best time to visit Font's Point--------a truly inspiring experience.
