We have just finished a few floors and went a little crazy with the saltillo tiles purchased locally. Having read recent posts with many concerns
about this material I thought I would post a few photos and comments about our experience. The uneven, clay surface of these tiles is very warm both
inside and outside on patios and is comfy for walking on with bare feet, which of course is what everyone in BCS wants to do right?. We tried both
pre-sealed and non sealed versions of the 12 inch and the 8 sided tiles. Lots of fun and lots of grout!!!

In the kitchen. We chose the 8 sided version for the kitchen (to match the 8 sided kitchen) and rather than use the small 4 inch saltillo inserts in
between each piece we purchased pre-cut 4 inch cantera inserts from that place near the new Marina in San Jose (and very near to Baja Judys bookstore)
that sells fountains and cantera stone slabs and tile. It added some color and contrast and these inserts were actually cheaper than the original
saltillo ones.

In the bathroom with a "carne" colored grout. The saltillos are very slippery when wet so be careful. We loved the warmth and color though so couldnt
resist.

Love your patio especially. What do you do first- the stone work or lay the saltillo first?
Do you have a close up of the canterra stone- some of my favorite.

Yes, you lay the saltillos first then you have nice canals to lay the rocks into. The rocks were glued down with "pega marmol" then grouted together
with the saltillo joints. On the patios we used light grey grout for contrast.
Um yeah, collecting rocks was a long and sweaty process involving lots of swims and pacificos.
The bricks for the kitchen are locally made adobe here in Todos Santos. 18" long. 8 pesos each after hard bargaining!

I have a question on your bricks - do they stand up to salty breezes?
We live up the coast from TS, so the climate is more or less equivalent - I had the impression that bricks are more fragile in coastal climates than
