Does any one out there in Nomad Land been to San Telmo? My uncle use to farm some land in the 60's. I never hear any one mention this place in Baja

Don't know too much about it except that I've driven thru it many times since 1978....in the 1978 trip we stopped at the old Conasupo tienda, got
some Tecates, pulled out the beach chairs, and drank the beer in the shade of an old pepper tree. Not much happening there, pretty sleepy.

The original San Telmo is on the Observatory road
It is the second entry on my road log from 2005:
ACROSS BAJA (Hwy. 1 to Hwy. 3) via Mike's Sky Rancho (GPS datum is NAD27)

San Telmo was originally a Dominican mission visiting station of the Santo Domingo mission... some foundations may be visible if one searches. A small
village has existed there for many years. When the Transpeninsular highway was built, a town grew along it and became known as San Telmo de Abajo and
the original town was called San Telmo de Arriba. Pavement arrived to San Telmo de Arriba a few years ago and was recently completed to the
observatory some 60 miles east and 9,000 feet up.
A well known Nomad and history buff who rides mules on mission trails and who studies Baja California families has roots in San Telmo (I believe her
