TJ - LTO - Tecate report 1/3/2011

Happy New Years, Feliz Ano

Going south the roads were great aside from the potted holes about
80 miles south of TJ. No worries they are gone now as the crews did lots of work and paved the road between xmas and new years. there are still pot holes to avoid as the rain has already taken its toll.

The boarder crossing going in was uneventful, the toll roads good, the inspections going south were all in car visits.

Coming north from loreto to tecate
Roads good all the way. Checkpoints all smooth with 3 we didnt have to get out of the car.

hot tip..... eat some of the best seafood in baja at EL FARO just outside (south side) of San Quintiin at KM 4.

Avoid gas stations that don't have cars at them.... most of those rig their pumps and the locals wont shop there. On old favorite I caught this trip..... Sad to have happen, but good to know... this one was EL ROSARIO.
Good gas stops are down the road are:
PINOS in south of san quintin, Jesus Maria north of Guerro Negro, new station in town of Guerro Negro,
Vizcaino first station on way south, avoid the one south of town, Santa Rosalia use third station from north end of town (second on left).

The road to tecate is getting better and better. still lots of construction but.... getting close to completion.

I don't understand what you are saying about the El Rosario Pemex... historically the most honest in Mexico... and I can guarantee you that the pumps are not fixed. Owned by a great friend to all travelers, Baja Nomad member 'BajaCactus'.

David, I agree with you on points made.

Maybe it was my math mistake.
I will hope so,
and like I said, sad "if" I was correct. (pump was #4)
I will try again next run.

10-4,

Antonio (BajaCactus) wants to informed right away if any of his attendents did wrong... Just email him the time of day you were there and describe the employee (they do wear name tags also). He has video cameras of the station and motel and can playback to when you pulled up and see the pump figures, etc. info@bajacactus.com
