DENNIS - 1-14-2011 at 09:20 PM

DENNIS - 1-14-2011 at 09:22 PM

Bacon wrapped hot dogs.

Need I say more?

DENNIS - 1-14-2011 at 09:23 PM

YUMMY when fresh.

DENNIS - 1-14-2011 at 09:25 PM

Frituras de Manzana

Fresh made at Tutti Donas in Ensenada are the world's best.

Natalie Ann - 1-14-2011 at 09:25 PM

Glorias..... goat milk cajete with pecan candies in a bright red wrapper.

I also like the mango pops in chile powder.

Snickers Bars are a favorite sin fronteras.

woody with a view - 1-14-2011 at 09:27 PM

why are you picking on our hermanos japonese?

and WTF is a diablito?

me and Billy the Jap were laughing at all the crap they wanna sell in the line. talk about a captive audience. a surfing monkey, bart simpson, every authentic nfl serape' known to "the league". and don't get me started on the Oaxacana's standing on shoulders, 4 feet high juggling. their parents should be castrated!!!! put those kids in school, not the border line..... WTF?

and the food selection is WORSE! from a fresh squeezed churro to a tostiloco!

K La ?????

DENNIS - 1-14-2011 at 09:34 PM

Mexican Caoco..those wonder hockey puck looking things mixed with hot milk.

Life is good with this on a cold night.

DENNIS - 1-14-2011 at 09:39 PM

Almost anything out of a good Mexican Bakery.

DENNIS - 1-14-2011 at 09:43 PM

that reminds me of the days when i was in kindergarden. mom was struggling. we made quesadillas with butter, wished we had some cheese.

i can still see those boxes of prunes on the pantry shelf. after the govt cheese was gone, at the end of the month there was only prunes, and a grumbling tummy. i still hate prunes.

i miss you mom!

Sallysouth - 1-14-2011 at 11:34 PM

Fresh flour tortilla with p-nut butter and marmelada, folded, fried in butter. My girls grew up with em!

Natalie Ann - 1-15-2011 at 11:20 AM

Frozen fruit bars - the ones that are 100% chunks of fruit squashed together and frozen, not the more commonly found ones with fruit in 'ice cream'. Just fruit. Delicious!

Odd.... apparently Jan, Dennis, Sally 'n me are the only nomads enjoying these snacks.
What's up? Everyone else on a diet?;D

There will be champurrado and tamales at the Dia de Reyes event tomorrow in Tijuana - as there's been at each of these events. As well as a Rosca de Reyes.

I love paletas too- coco, mango, pińa. They have some really good ones at Costco and Smart & Final in CA that i'd buy before we moved here and I had them all the time. Almost as good as the ones at a Michoacana.

It's 2˝-3 hours of potholes and washboard to get home from the big town now so no more frozen stuff anymore. I love where I live but I'd pay handsomely for a little fruit now and then out here in the desert. In fact, skip the paletas.

Fruit!

It takes fewer from the small bag to kill a rat than those from the large bag which are usually crushed up and sprinkled around for ants.

Buen Provecho.

durrelllrobert - 1-16-2011 at 11:14 AM

GORDITOS: an open face taco on a really thick soft tortilla. here is some valuable info for all you MX food officienados:

No one has yet mentioned Mexican CocaCola. Filled with lots of real sugar and a good snort of caffeine - no better way to blast yourself through the day.:biggrin:

Got addicted to those darn things years ago, and used to "smuggle" a bunch back home. A few years ago, they started US distribution. Now I can find them all over the place.

Takis are from Barcel. Barcel is a unit of Grupo Bimbo.

"A very cold Pacifico"

Negritos? Gansitos? Choco Roles?

JaraHurd - 6-4-2011 at 10:18 AM

I am ADDICTED to GAnsitos...but not the chocolate ones. The original ones are way better!!

There is another Bimbo product that is called Negritos in Baja and renamed thet more politically correct Bimboletes in the USA. I absolutely love them!!!!!!!!!!!

And Choco Roles....but not the pina ones. I can't find the caramel ones in LA...

Jarriitos de Tamarindo???? Yup..I am a JUNK FOOD junkie!!
