Would not doubt that report for a second,
entirely possible, Cops, taxi drivers, etc.
Anyone who would jump to the conclusion
that is not possible is unfamiliar with Mex.
The travelling I've done in Mex I would have never
considered it if I were female
and getting intoxicated makes the person
a lot more venerable

Obviously, rape is a heinous crime.
That said, there are really no others outside that room that can know for certain what happened there.
But, I cannot resist having some doubt here. First, if one looks at the links provided by soulpatch, you will note that in those two instances, as
well as so many more that have come to light over the years, a crime committed by someone in authority is almost always done in seclusion and one on
one.
In this case, the allegations assert a gang rape with an audience happening a police station. Not to mention that Playa Del Carmen is a major tourist
mecca. Are we supposed to believe all these guys went rogue spontaneously for the first time? I ask that because nowhere is there any mention of such
incidences having occurred before in this town.
Noting that it was New Years Eve, have to wonder just how bellicose and belligerent these two were to get dragged off to jail in the first place.
That said, I give the benefit of the doubt to the two CanadiansBajaBlanca - 1-18-2011 at 03:58 PM
What a horrible way to start the New Year .....deana39 - 1-18-2011 at 04:13 PM
hello everyone, my first post, ive been reading this forum for yrs, we went to cancun for newyears, had a great time except for one day, my gf and i
decided to meet our hubbys at the harley store downtown, in front of our hotel, cancun palace, we waited for the bus, a policeman stopped and wanted
to give us a ride, for our safety, we declined, he would not except that, was really pushy, then the bus came, it freaked us out. For that person to
say they do not believe for a min. that she was raped tells me that the poster has there head in the sand or maybe they have a busines or a relative
has a busines that depends on tourist dollars, i think this forum is great, but we need to keep it real. maybe the police in mexico are honestsanquintinsince73 - 1-18-2011 at 04:35 PM
Few years ago in Rosarito a Canadian couple was arrested for being drunk in public and causing a ruckus. At the Rosarito jail they were put in
adjacent cells. Two cops entered the female's cell and proceeded to rape her within earshot of her hubby. I don't know if these two rapist's were ever
brought to trial but this incident was all over the news at the time.BajaDanD - 1-18-2011 at 05:15 PM

This is a bummer. Probably isn't helping the guy trying to convince his wife that mexico is safe.ELINVESTIG8R - 1-18-2011 at 05:32 PM
Rapes are perpetrated by our US police so it stands to reason that they also happen in Mexico. I have personally been involved in two cases where I
had to interrogate the two law enforcement people. Both confessed they did it under color of authority...Bajahowodd - 1-18-2011 at 05:32 PM
Well, at least a little bit more info. From the Calgary Sun-
"Attorney General for the state of Quintana Roo, Francisco Alor Quezada, told QMI Agency Tuesday the couple had been arrested because they were drunk
and fighting and had damaged a car belonging to a resident during the scuffle. They were then brought to a cell specifically for tourists.
“Apparently they came to an agreement with the car owner and were released,” he said. “It was only later they came forward with the rape allegations.”
Seems they were behaving badly.DENNIS - 1-18-2011 at 05:37 PM
In spite of what we don't know, there is one salient fact.....nothing stands a chance in the Nomad Court of Law. Hang everybody. DanO - 1-18-2011 at 06:36 PM

when a male gets raped in jail it is not news worthyBajaGringo - 1-19-2011 at 01:27 PM
Could it have happened?
Sure.
Did it happen? Hard to say based on what we do know from this story. I do hope they do a thorough investigation and if true, that the guilty be left
hung out to dry.
One big lesson that should be learned is that if you are going to get stupid drunk it is best you do it within the confines of the four walls of your
own home.
Or with a trusted, designated driver sitting on the next stool...

ChrisX should hire himself out as a designated driver
