I bought the 3125 model for $3.30 a watt, lowest price I have seen, man who sells them sets up near the canal crossing just before you get to the border at Andrade , Ca in winter and has 800# in summer.
Install on a trailer or motor home before crossing the border and no duty is due, otherwise pay 34% after your deductions.

Import Duty

MrBillM - 8-15-2004 at 11:46 AM

The maximum duty on goods produced in the Far East
was 19 % as of Feb 2004, the last time I filled out
a customs declaration. At one time, it was 54 %, but
has been adjusting downward in steps. U.S. goods are
taxed at 17 % so I imagine it won't get any lower than
that. Goods from Bolivia, Nicaragua, Israel, European
Union are taxed at the highest rates, up to 28 %.
I have declared Kyocera Solar panels in the past, albeit
with an invoice I crafted.
My big customs "shock" was back in 1998 when I bought a
Window A/C unit at Walmart along with a Honda-Powered
Generator to power it. I gave my receipts to the inspector
who proceeded to start unpacking the merchandise. I asked
what was going on and he replied "Country of Origin". One
unit was from Singapore, one from Japan. 54 % duty. Fortun-
ately, I had created "adjusted" receipts, still it was a
"big" (not little) bite.
