Don't worry....you aren't Canadian :lol::lol:

Bajahowodd - 1-19-2011 at 02:26 PM

Geez. Millions upon millions of US and Canadian tourists visit Mexico every year. Maybe if someone compared the rates of such incidents to tourists visiting other countries, such as the US, it may not seem like such a big deal.

Mexicorn - 1-19-2011 at 02:37 PM

Most post by ND are reporting anything that could dissuade visitation of Mexico.
Just an observation. Do I know. you ND?

IF

MrBillM - 1-19-2011 at 02:47 PM

ND is a "typical" Canuckian, it is surprising that we don't read of far more being shot, stabbed, run-over or otherwise eradicated.

viabaja - 1-19-2011 at 02:51 PM

Here Here!! Palms Springs is being over run by them!!

Wouldn't It be something if Drew turned out to be someone we all knew who had been banned from this board before?

Canuckians in California

MrBillM - 1-19-2011 at 03:15 PM

During Winter, they're more plentiful than c-ckroaches.

And, wherever you run into them, they'll invariably Drone on about how wonderful Canuckia is while making it a point to stay away from there until the Thaw.

There should be some sort of a Spray-Repellent to deal with them. It would sell big in the Inland Areas. In Hemet, they'd have a problem keeping it on the shelves.

There was a flurry of negative posts a few months back, and then nothing. Looks like she's back.

That said, it really struck me the first time around that it appeared to be someone "near and dear" to the board. Could be.

The thaw that lasts for 2 mos. How do they live there?

You don't have to be afraid of it. Just live...and die....with it. Be your own person. You are in charge of your life. Looking for strength is only for the weak. Be pure of mind and resolve. Forgive the misguided and pray for them. Be strong...be gentle...be aware. Be yourself.

When you're done doing all that, buy a heavy insurance policy and a rapid fire pistol.

God loves you....and your gun.

As for comparasions between the Untied States and Mexico.. whens the last time you read a story like this... happening in the United States... to a Citizen

"The 43-year-old was driving from Piedras Negras to the town of Muzquiz in the border state of Coahuila when his vehicle was chased by a group of armed gunmen at about 5 p.m. last Wednesday, according to borderlandbeat.com.

Klowak refused to stop and, trying to escape the armed thugs, crashed and rolled his vehicle, at which point a gunman walked to the wreckage and shot him twice in the head, according to the article."

I don't get TV, so I just googled... and could not find any ... if one can supply.. thanks in advance...

Rosamunde - 1-19-2011 at 07:04 PM

Yes Mexicorn ....regarding your great reply....something is very fishy.

When we retired and sold the family home we invested a little in Baja and a lot in the US. Had advice about living and buying in the US from the American Embassy and did everything that they advised.

Guess what?

The rules all changed after 9/11. We even became legal ALIENS.

So as legal aliens we discovered when we tried to sell up the government wanted a 10per cent withholding tax. Not on what we were going to get after costs...... But before costs. Bet you born and bred Yanks don't know about that one! What with the recession and new rules etc we lost a hell of a lot of our hard earned money. Some of our American friends told us that they were ashamed of being American. Others didn't believe that it was really happening. Our New York Lawyer said he was powerless to do anything for us.... The law had changed.

Please don't try to put us off Mexico. For eleven years she has treated us really well. We are so pleased that we invested in our home here and following good advice the land it sits on was bought and paid for, by us, in the name of some honest Mexican people, who we are proud to say are our good friends. We understand that land rights are a can of worms but our property on that land is ours, our families or anyone else's that care to buy us out.

If we lost everything in Mexico it would still be less than all we lost in America.

Who is it that seems determined to give Mexico bad press and what do they think they will get out of it?

Targeting Canuckials

MrBillM - 1-20-2011 at 10:32 AM

Targeting Canucks in the Crosshairs, taking Aim and unleashing Shots is simply too much fun to pass on, although it is sort of like pointing fun at Retards.

But, they are such a tempting target. After all, people so dumb that they forget to close the door on their submarines before submerging aren't really very bright.

I hear people complain because the Canuckians get something of a free-ride on defense because the U.S. is their guarantee but, on the other hand, wouldn't it be kind of scary if THEY had an effective Armed Forces and could make some REALLY serious mistakes that might affect all of us ? Better to keep them semi-harmless.

Canada is one of those countries that is so nice it's too bad it's filled with Canadians.

I've observed a lot of xenophobic Canadians in Baja CA - I agree (for once) with BillM.

The gentleman who was shot took a round to his right knee from an AK....he is doing well, plans to return to Mexico as he is a regular visitor....and still is considering moving there or at least buying a place.

Don't think he is "living in fear".

The guy is from Penticton, BC, appears to be in his late 60's or early 70's.

Cool attitude....doesn't sound too xenophobic to me.

Not like some folks dissing Canadians

Well its to be expected here on Nomads, its what 95% American? And types like MrBill are basically misanthropes anyway so you expect it from them!

But its kinda sad really that people so readily dis Canadians seeing as we are their closest neigbors. Sad too that god forbid you be even slightly critical of American attitudes then they jump all over you. It seems to me Americans are too thin skinned when it comes to observations of their attitudes. We know so much about them and they know so little about us!

Poking Fun at the Retard Class

MrBillM - 1-23-2011 at 01:10 PM

The marooonsAmongUs ?

Back in the 50s-60s they were often (Poorly) "main-streamed" in the Government Schools and were a REAL Drag on Class Progress.

But, I always looked upon their presence as an opportunity for generating Mirth at their expense.

Some of my friends thought that was a bit over-the-top even in an era when most everything was still OK for poking fun. Unlike current PC days.

But, they laughed.

Bajahowodd - 1-23-2011 at 05:18 PM

Just thinking that when some cracker from the low desert seems to feel entitled to dump on Canada, it's probably because he doesn't have a clue that the population of Canada is just slightly over 10% of the population of the US. So when complaining about defense and stuff like that, what should you expect? Maybe he should do some reading, if capable, and find out that, among other things, the Canadian banking industry is in much better shape than that of the US. That said, perhaps the only oddity I find with Canada is that they fundamentally allow an entire province to officially operate in a different language. Is Quebec that strong an influence over all of Canada?

Government Schools

MrBillM - 1-23-2011 at 05:49 PM

Is the one I prefer as a MORE ACCURATE description than PUBLIC Schools which are really not owned or controlled by the Public who send their children there for Indoctrination.

Private schools could better be described as Public.

As they are in Great Britain.

And, as far as Canada's relative size versus their Defense Budget, regardless of their population size, it has historically been far lower as a percentage of GDP. Figures for 2008 list the U.S. at 4.3 and Canada at 1.3.

The reason they can spend so little is that WE (the U.S.) are their guarantee of Safety.

Most Importantly, though, I am NOT a LOW-Desert Cracker.

I live in the HIGH-Desert (and Baja) and it's my EX-Wife (now Diabetic weighing 300 pounds in a wheelchair and hopefully in excruciating pain every moment of every day for the rest of her life) who is a (Georgia) Cracker.

motoged - 1-23-2011 at 06:37 PM

Smartly Bailing

MrBillM - 1-24-2011 at 10:58 AM

I Have to agree with the Canuckial on the Ex.

It was SMART of her to Bail and Trek Back to Peachy Cracker Land since it was just ahead of the law.

Worked out well for all concerned (including favorable Divorce Terms) resulting in there not being a Chance that she'd ever set foot in California again.

Worked out well for Georgia, too. Or, at least, a HUGE segment of the Male Population in that area. Having developed an appetite for Lustful variety, she managed to embarrass and alienate both sons attempting to set a record in that respect with FOUR subsequent marriages and Dozens (or Hundreds ?) who didn't make it to the altar. The most notable of which was occasion for her departure (for years) from the small mill-town where she was born having been caught unclothed and "in flagrante delicto" in a room at church with a Married Deacon.

Interestingly, THAT event which resulted in their being expelled from the church and his Divorce, also resulted in a marriage between them that has endured now for 25-years or so. Of course, it's hard to say from such a distance how good that marriage is since he's said to be in worse health from Heart-Disease and Emphysema than she is with her Diabetes and Wheelchair. Another result of that transgression was her turning to Jesus with the determination often seen in Alcoholics and other Sinners.

So much so that it has been difficult to keep up on her ills. I'm always hoping to hear that they've begun cutting pieces off her as a result of the Diabetes. I'd hate for it to happen and not be able to practice appropriate Schadenfreude.

Talking to the youngest son over the Holidays, I asked "How's your Mom doing" and the reply was "OK, I guess. I haven't talked to her in months and probably won't since she starts into all that Religion Crap everytime I do".

It's a somewhat Dysfunctional Family Life.

She's so screwed up, she could easily be mistaken for a Canuckian.

JumpJoey - 1-24-2011 at 11:38 AM

To me , the key issue is if tourists are indeed being "targeted" , as the victim from the RV camp has indicated. It is one thing to be a tourist somewhere that is unfortunately caught up in a shooting that would have occurred with or without them being there , and actually being the primary target. Regarding Canadians , I find them to be very nice people and fun to camp with and throw back a few beers with. The ones I have surfed with show good surf ediquette. too. {I give up on the spelling}

Bajamatic - 1-24-2011 at 11:45 AM

sounds like a lot of butt hurt Mr. Bill. It's pretty f-ing easy to sit on an internet site and slander your wife, but it show real character to resist that impulse, or to resist bulling others into seeing it "your way." But you wouldn't have a clue what that means, so why am I even typing?

Schadenfreude not Slander

MrBillM - 1-24-2011 at 01:58 PM

The ultimate defense against Slander, of course, is TRUTH and I could prove everything I've ever said about the Georgian Blimp-Witch.

And, as far as avoiding the temptation to dump on the Crone, we aren't anywhere near even yet. And, never will be.

After all, I NEVER tried to Kill her.

I do regret not making the attempt, though. It would only have been fair.

There are probably a few times over the years when the Boys wished I had before she carted them off to Crackerville.

Speaking of Dysfunctional, a few years back the Youngest called to describe what he thought was a truly ODD event. His mother had sent him a box of photos from childhood days that she'd "Just" found and he said "you weren't in any of them". "What's odd about that" I asked ? "Well, You WERE in almost all of them, but she'd taken scissors and CAREFULLY trimmed you out of every one".

Thirty-Some Years Later ?

Laughed my Buns off over that one. At least we share a common bond of Hatred.

And, sent her a Card with a photo "In case you've run out".

Credit where Credit's Due

MrBillM - 1-24-2011 at 04:43 PM

She WAS a GREAT Shag. When you meet the rare gal who is that enthusiastic and creative, you're pretty much doomed. A friend once (well, a LOT more than once) questioned why we were getting married because he'd never seen us go through a day without an argument.

DUH !

And, no doubt, there are a hundred or more guys besides myself who could attest to that. Some of them on the same night as each other from what my Son has said.

That was quite a few years back, 200 lbs less and no Wheelchair, of course.

Probably the one thing we share still is the fervent hope that the other will Drop Dead first. I'm sure if she was in the throes of Terminal Cancer on a Morphine Drip on the Last Night, she'd have a Blissful moment knowing that I was Dead.

I know that's how I'll feel about her. But, for now, her continued agony is reward in itself.

I'm proud to say that the "I Hate MrBill" Club has a Huge (and still growing) membership so she's in Bad Company with many. Wish I could get a Buck a year in membership fees. I could buy that '65 Mustang.

To be completely Honest and Fair, there is a "Little" Hypocrisy in my irritation with her Infidelity since I was shagging her when she was still married to her previous spouse (who I knew before I met her). Of course, he WAS as Big an A-Hole that a lot of people think I am so he deserved it.

Mostly Black Humor.

The Irony was that I finally met her because I was "dating" her sister who turned out to be a REALLY nice person, married another of my friends at the Beach and they lived (apparently) happily for the rest of her life.

Which ended with a Stroke in her late 50s.
