We had lunch at Akai Sakana Brasserie today, it is located across the main boulevard (Benito Juarez) from the Festival Hotel (the
roller-coaster-on-the-roof place).
Jasmine is the lovely and gracious owner and her Shih Tsu ("Lion Dog") guards the door, but quickly steps back to welcome new visitors. In fact,
Jasmine advertises her restaurant as "dog friendly."'
Now, to the food. It was delicious.
To start, we ordered edamame (soybeans in the pod) to start and they were fresh and perfectly cooked, and a Caterpillar roll.
Then we took advantage of the $5.00 lunch menu - Tempura Veggies (which included two pieces of shrimp) and Chicken Teriyaki Combo that included a
California Roll.
The tempura was perfect - the coating was feather light and not oily in the least.
The teriyaki sauce on the chicken was very well done; savoury and not too sweet
Oh, did I forget to mention that the rice was perfect?
And to finish, a "Special Tempura Cheesecake" dessert.
This place is a wonderful restaurant with very high standards regarding cleanliness and presentation. Everything was delicious, fresh and presented
with style.
