cement shower walls

volcano - 1-22-2011 at 07:27 AM

one of my shower walls is cement, no tile. I'll be sealing. Would one use the "5 in 1" for that? or what?
also, is grout sealer adequite (sp) for shower floor with wide grout margins?

5 in 1 would not be the best choice in a wet area, I would recommend poly form, a 2 part urethane sealer for showers. It's available at Comex, you will also want to get the reducer and thin it down.

Why don't you tile it? That would not only seal it, but make it more cleanable as well.

Hi, I hope you dont mind me askinga a question.....
I have tile in my shower and was wondering what is the best way to keep them clean? Is there a sealant I should put over all of the tile?
Thanks

we seal the grout in the showers with sealer

and use a light oil for the tiles to keep
the hard water deposits off them

works well

Sounds slippery. Do you use rubber mats?:?:

2 walls are tiled with sheets of colored glass..expense and ability to get it there is the "why" one wall is cement..an improvement I can do later in the future.

Also, keep a squeegee in the shower and wipe the walls down after you are done. This really helps remove the soap scum and remove moisture that mold and mildew like. You can even buy "pretty" ones made for bathrooms if you don't want to use a vehicle squeegee. I personally have vehicle squeegee in my shower with the handle removed.

liquid soap

We have found that we have less soap/scum (yuk) buildup if we use liquid soap such as shower gel......instead of bar soap
