Looking for a good breakfast place in Ensenada that is close to the Costco area and that is open on a Monday.
Any suggestions?
ThanksBajahowodd - 1-25-2011 at 12:42 PM
Obviously, there's Applebees just down and across the street. However, in my opinion, the two best breakfast places in town are Las Cazuelas on
Sanguines just up from the entrance to the Navy base and Mi Kaza (I think it's on Riveroll just up from the docks). Neither near Costco, but I think
they are the best.DENNIS - 1-25-2011 at 12:43 PM
Closest thing tolerable might be Estero Beach. Not sure of their schedule.
From which direction are you traveling? Sounds like north to south. If so, stop at Las Cazuelas by the Navy Base..next to world famous Tutti Donas.
In fact, just go to Tutti's and eat fresh, hot Apple Fritters til your belly blows up. It will be one of your finest days.

It's a stretch from COSTCO, but you can try Monique's. On 9th street across from the main Police station.
Or you could try the Estero Beach ResortDianaT - 1-25-2011 at 12:51 PM
The reason for close to Costco is that I will be leaving my computer at the TelCel office for an hour or more-----thus, we were hoping not to back
track, but may have to do so.

OK, and we have been there before and we also really enjoyed Monique's once, and have not tried the Hotel Corona. I know they are not far, but we
just have this thing about never wanting to backtrack unless absolutely necessary. Just one of those weird things---but it sounds like we might need
to to so as we will not eat at Applebees. Natalie Ann - 1-25-2011 at 01:18 PM
And bajaguy is correct - Monique's is another great breakfast spot. A very good friend of mine works there... ask for Magda as your server and be
sure to tip well.

Yes, we enjoyed meeting Magda. But with a 10% coupon, it just may have to be Las Cazuelas! Can't pass up a good deal. Gracias, amiga.DENNIS - 1-25-2011 at 01:23 PM
Sounds as though McDonaldos might just fill the bill.
I think Monique's is good but out of range...especially through traffic which, at that time, can be infuriating.
Going around the block isn't really backtracking. Just consider it, "looking for a parking place."bajabound2005 - 1-25-2011 at 01:41 PM
Baja Fruit in the Walmart Plaza right across from Costco.bajabird - 1-25-2011 at 01:54 PM
I've waited at the Road Runner on the Ruta de Vino for Costco booze sales to be open.....DianaT - 1-25-2011 at 02:00 PM

Love that one.Bajahowodd - 1-25-2011 at 06:17 PM
Hey, DT. Thought just occurred to me. Since you'll be at the Walmart center, don't they have a VIPS adjacent? I posted some time back about the
cleanliness of these restaurants. Been in several both in Baja and on the mainland. They actually do a really good breakfast, including some wonderful
fruit plates. But what stunned me was their chilaquiles. Despite their ambience that seems to aspire to Denny's, their chilaquiles breakfast is to die
for.
So, no going back. Just do it there.:tumble:DavidE - 1-25-2011 at 06:27 PM
Jeez, it's been so long I have to ask: Is Restaurant Sofia Y Almas still in business on calle delante, about even across the street with haliotis?
They used to put out a super, genuine mexican desayuno, and the bill was a lot lower than it used to be at Los Cazuelas.
Sofia Y Almas was one of my favorites because it was genuinely mexicano.DENNIS - 1-25-2011 at 06:31 PM

Jeeeezo...does that bring back memories. I hope they're still happening. I used to go there a lot when I lived in town. I'll have to take a look.Marc - 1-25-2011 at 07:58 PM
