The sixth of February is election day. No liquor sales that day or the day before.
Also, no more loudspeaker noise and final pitches beginning this Sunday. A whole week of peace, without traffic jams at political rallys.krafty - 1-28-2011 at 11:46 AM

Well, now you got my attention! Wtf? Flat, absolute, no sales (no bars open)?
Like at Malarrimo in Guerrero Negro?
What can all y'all tell me about this. (I know some of my buds were planning on planting themselves at a tv at the bar that afternoon.
Yikes. This sounds serious!vandenberg - 1-28-2011 at 02:03 PM
I believe hotels/bars/restaurants that cater to tourist can apply for exempt status.bajacalifornian - 1-28-2011 at 02:17 PM
It is called "ley seca", or dry law . . . intending that everybody makes a conscious vote. Bars will be open, but serve no alcohol.DavidE - 1-28-2011 at 02:43 PM
I am delaying the start of my trip until the 7th. I only can hope that this SB will be a humdinger. Sixty five inch high resolution screen, theatre
surround sound, deep pile arm chair.woody with a view - 1-28-2011 at 03:10 PM

Not sure how it works exactly. But we were in Cabo the weekend of Calderone's election. Retailers in general would not sell alcohol. But, it was
freely available at all the restaurants and bars at the resorts. Not sure if they had to make individual application, or if local or state government
gave blanket authority. In fact, we ate dinner at a restaurant that was owned by the Solmar Group but located 2 miles off site of their hotel. Liquor
was freely available.
So, if you Nomads forget to stock up ahead of time, you can always consider heading over to a resort for a few pops, if you reside in an area that has
resorts.captkw - 1-28-2011 at 03:38 PM
