Been back from our 5 week TJ to Cabo tour of Baja and this year was a little different for us, we were traveling alone.
We were very happy to see an increased presence of Mexican military on the road, it made us feel very safe. We are fairly seasoned travelers in Baja we been going for 10 years but in light of all the turmoil lately it was good to see extra military presence, more Federales and we actually were seeing Green Angels several times a day on Mex 1.
We had a great trip and met many new friends from the U.S., Baja and Canada. We have been back in Oregon for 2 weeks and getting re settled so I will post a trip report soon.

5 weeks. Lucky dogs on the road!

That must had been a great rodie.

The Green Angels is a hell of a good idea. Come to think of it, I have not ever but once.....seen them on Mex 5 (?)

The military presence is way too good! I enjoy them being in Baja. Not only are there check points to help keep the knuckleheads in line.....the military is always traveling up and down the highway. I see them way more often than the cops. My hat is off to those kids that work in the service for their country.

We always drop off bags of candy or bottles of wine to the guys at each of the checkpoints. They seem to appreciate it.

My nephew graduated college last month and just entered the Mexican military. They are young men trying to do the best they can to protect their people. They didn't jump the border and try to make a living in the USA, they chose to stay in the country they love and make a difference. Thanks for being kind to them. They have a target on their backs and every act of kindness is appreciated.

:yes::yes:

McFez, I've seen the Green Angels at least once in each direction when I drive 5 down to San Felipe. The rig they use is a white pick up with blue and green stripes on it. On the back it will say "Vehiculo de Baja Velocidad". There is also a light rack on top...the first time I saw one I was afraid to pass until I realize it was the Green Angels and not the Policia. Watch on your next trip down and I bet you will notice the truck.

Watch? You mean I have to drive while awake?

I will do that and see. Maybe I have been looking at the pavement too much and nothing else. Txs
