Definitely an indoor type day today. At 10am it is 58º and the average wind the last 10 minutes was 30mph with a gust of 49 that popped open my garage
door. It looks a bit like San Felipe out front with 5 shrimpers and 5 seiners anchored up close in. Here's a series of shots I just took.
Edit 10:30... 53mph gust & only 57º

Blowin' cold as ice outta the East. Definitly an inside, long pants day.
Russ - 2-2-2011 at 12:33 PM
12:30 had a gust at 59 mph -- now 56º and dropping. Got a report from Durango, CO of -17 and strong winds.

DANG!!!! If I didn't know better, it sounds like La Paz is experiencing nearly Cat. 1 wind gusts! Had to go out
& rescue some cushions before they sailed into the pool & gusts feel stronger than 50 mph in the car with all the windows
down!

sailflow.com has it worse for Thursday, then mellowing through the weekend.

Later in the day around 5pm or so
A close up of the last seiners equipment. The big shut is the discharge for the vacuum when they're sucking fish out of the net.
Here's an old pic of the other side with the vacuum hoses

RUSS...what's up with the snow sled out front?
Were you expecting it to get cold enough to go sledding and you were trying to be ready for it?
We had those Flexi-Flyer style sleds when we were kids and they were a lot of fun!
BTW - Really nice pics...Thanks for always taking the time to take and post your pictures!!!

Russ,
Some really super shots... thanks much..
Looks a bit rough out there...
Also, it appears that there is a very large break on the horizion or I'm just seeing something in the background out of focus?
Thanks for the information added in... about the fishing vessels operations
Getting a first hand education on commercial fishing in the Sea of Cortez
Again many thanks..
Good to see folks with such strong feelings about things, as I start to worry when ya don't...
Miguelamo beat me to it...

...I was wondering about the 'sled' too...
When "Global Warming" takes effect, as it has in the Nor-East lately, you might be able to ride that sled across the 'Cortez'...
While others will be trading in their Pangas for ice-devices, you'll be ahead of the game...
Oh yes, great pictures - those 'rollers' out on the horizon of several of the pic's look rather menacing - all the guys up here around Mavericks would
be trying to figure out how to get out there on their boards...
Russ - 2-3-2011 at 06:10 AM
I wondered if anyone might notice the huge conditions on the horizon.
The sled came down with me from Washington. It's been posed & ready for almost 20 years hear and still it hasn't rusted away.
So far this morning we had a 54 mph gust so you might understand why the trawlers are still parked off shore a couple hundred yards.
High wind since midnight
5:48 this morning
Probable a couple sunrise shots later
Flash! just had a 58 mph gust!
