elgatoloco - 8-18-2004 at 09:31 AM
ch-ch-ch-changes.......
At least we will be able to take the train to hang out and surf at The Quatro Casas Four Seasons and the Le Meriden Shipwrecks Resort and Spa!

I suggest everyone head south as much as possible as soon as possible.

JESSE - 8-18-2004 at 12:22 PM
Folks, dont worry about it, NOTHING is going to happen during the Fox administration, after 2006 we will just have to see.
For the surfers
jrbaja - 8-18-2004 at 12:43 PM
I just watched a special on surfing the wake of said container and oil ships. Pretty poor shape but LOOOOOOOONG ride !
whodat54321 - 8-18-2004 at 01:50 PM
i don't think I'd want to surf in bilge waste and leaking diesel. yuk!
You mean like
jrbaja - 8-18-2004 at 01:53 PM
surfing the california beaches?
Mexitron - 8-18-2004 at 02:05 PM
I'm thinking Patagonia if Baja gets too crowded.....
pappy - 8-18-2004 at 07:30 PM
i can't imagine , or don't want to, the increase in traffic with all the 18 wheelers with cago containers travelling between colonet and the
border-sheesh! what a nightmare!(look for a huge increase in roadside shrines).....
Those guys would widen the road
jrbaja - 8-18-2004 at 08:07 PM
and then all those people buying into the gringo enclaves will feel safe to drive and explore Baja.
Won't that be fun!
It's bound to happen one day but, so far the ma?ana effect is still very much in operation here, as it always has been.
Viva Mexico!!!

Having seen Lazaro Card##as' port and surfing mentioned in this post, I expected someone to remember the disastrous effect of the breakwater at Lazaro
in the early 80's, on the surf at Petacalco, which before had 12' waves on a normal day.
David K - 8-18-2004 at 08:37 PM
Where abouts in Mexico is that Lazaro Card##as? I am only familiar with the ones in Baja...

"At Punta Colonet, Union Pacific Corp. is considering a joint venture with Hutchison to lay down tracks to Yuma, Ariz., where cargo could be hauled to
the Inland Empire without ever passing through the L.A. or Long Beach ports.
(Union Pacific and Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corp. operate Southern California rail lines to the Mexican border where they pick up U.S. bound
cargo.) "

Back when the English tried to grow wheat in San Quintin, they put down 20 miles of railroad tracks as the first section of a line that would haul the
flour north. The route layed out turned east to Valle Trinidad.
The new 'Puerto Colonet' to Yuma RR would do the same and continue through the San Matias Pass following Hwy. 3 then heading north along Hwy. 5. The
terrain gives few choices for railroad routes in Baja.
